Perth Glory welcome Wellington Phoenix to HBF Park on Sunday evening in Round 27 of the 2018-19 A-League season. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 5pm (AEST).

A season that started more in hope than expectation for Perth Glory, ends with a home ‘Distance Derby’, a Premiers Plate already secured, and a shot at the Grand Final still to come.

It is unlikely that defeat last week to Sydney FC will affect what should be a celebratory atmosphere inside the stadium tonight.

With 17 wins this season, Tony Popovic has shifted the mindset from hope to expectancy, and Glory fans can feel confident going into Finals football in two weeks’ time.

With Wellington Phoenix still eyeing a top-four finish – depending on other results – Mark Rudan’s men won’t take this match lightly.

The Nix’s coach will certainly demand a better display than his team managed here in February – a miserable 3-0 defeat.

The New Zealanders have been much stronger since, with striker Roy Krishna finding the back of the net 13 times since the turn of the year.

Krishna looks set to beat Sydney FC’s Adam Le Fondre in the race for the A-League Golden Boot.

Wellington Phoenix currently use #CreateHistory in their tweets. Aptly, both clubs can say they have this season. Tonight seems like the perfect opportunity to celebrate that.

Prediction
I can see this being a high scoring game with Glory ending their Premiership winning season on a high.

Perth Glory 3 – 1 Wellington Phoenix

Very happy with that. It's a shame there's no Melbourne Derby Elimination Final. I might see you in 2 weeks Stevo ; ) GO GLORY!

They’ll probably fly directly to Melbourne from Perth and make it their home base for the week.

90+3' Fittingly the whistle blows with the ball in Wellington goalie Oliver Sail's arms. He has a wry smile on his face as he makes a last ditch save to deny Glory a sixth goal.

88' Two minutes to go in one of the most one sided games of football your likely to see. Tony Popovic picked a strong side. Mark Rudan made changes with the finals in mind. His weaker team have been run ragged tonight. Perth Glory 5 – 0 Wellington Phoenix

This time it was Joel Chianese the provider. The tricky forward delivers a good looking cross into Santalab who simply added the finishing touch. Perth Glory 5 – 0 Wellington Phoenix

80' Ten minutes left of the regular A-League season at a happy HBF Park. Kris Popovic is stood on the touchline waiting patiently to come on.

79' Can Wellington give their fans something to cheer after a miserable 80 minutes? It doesn't look likely. Glory have been assured at the back, even without Shane Lowry tonight. Perth Glory 4 – 0 Wellington Phoenix

75' Castro has hit a post for Glory, and substitute Joel Chianese is a willing runner. The goals may not be over just yet. You sense that Phoenix just want to get the heck out of here. The Wellington supporters are staying put for now. Maybe the bus isn't here yet. Perth Glory 4 – 0 Wellington Phoenix

71' Substitute Max Burgess tries to get Wellington going forward but his pass is cut out. Nothing has really gone right for the away side. A night to forget for Mark Rudan's men. Perth Glory 4 – 0 Wellington Phoenix

68'

Antony Golec - yellow card for Wellington Phoenix
4-0

68' Chris Ikonomidis is certainly a fans favourite for Glory. That was a huge round of applause for the Socceroo as he is replaced by Joel Chianese.

The referee ruled it out at first, but after a word in his ear from somewhere, the goal is given. A peach of a through ball from Castro and a very clinical finish from the striker. Perth Glory 4 – 0 Wellington Phoenix
