The A-League have saved the best until last this weekend, with a top of the table clash in Parramatta between Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne Victory.
It’s second versus sixth, with neither side having lost so far this year – a record the Wanderers just about maintained with a late equaliser at Brisbane Roar last weekend from Marcus Antonsson. It’s not always been scintillating from the red and black, but it has been super effective.
Vuck also drew, away on the Central Coast, and that has been the story of their season: though they are yet to lose, they only have two wins from their six games. On several occasions, they have dominated games but failed to turn that into goals, allowing opponents back in late to grab a share of the spoils.
It’s that dynamic that makes this game so interesting. Victory will happily take the bulk of the ball and play in the attacking half, but WSW will love that. Few teams in the A-League counterattack as well as they do.
We’ll be on from 4.30pm with all the action from CommBank Stadium – and it should be a cracker.

Cheers for the blog, Mike. What an electric end to a very decent match. This is a game the A-League needed. Heaps of highlights.

FT That's it! Melbourne Victory win an absolute epic thanks to four goals from Bruno Fornaroli, but they were given an almighty fright by WSW, who have zero quit in them. It's the first defeat of the year for the Wanderers, and Victory leapfrog them in the table as a result. 3-4 it finishes!

90+6' Yuel crosses, Izzo claims. He was offside anyway. Vuck will do anything for the final whistle... 3-4

90+6' We're at the end of allotted time but surely more will be added after the goal... 3-4

90+5' There's always one chance, isn't there? If WSW are going to have theirs, they need it soon. Vuck are doing well to keep it up the other end... 3-4

90+4' Vuck on the break, Ikonomidis wins the ball, plays a length of the field 1-2 and then wins a corner. It's ball into the corner time. 3-4

90+2' Victory's heads are all over the gaff here. Izzo tries to waste time with the ball, but then punts it the length of the park to Thomas. WSW coming in waves. 3-4

Finally. WSW have the potential to be a powerhouse team. They play great football, but need to be on target more often.

Antonsson the man again, nodding in an excellent cross from Yuel. Not the best defending but well finished across Izzo, who had no chance. 2-4!

86' Paramount goes off again...when it comes back, the picture quality looks like the NSL days. Seems like not much happened in our absence anyway. 1-4

WSW with amazing chances, but gosh, they’re not clinical. Melbourne, however, took every opportunity & made it worthwhile.
