Im not hating on Indigenous All Stars but this should be a ALL STARS1 Vs ALL STARS2 GAME. Mixing it up with all team playersL. This would be taking a concept from STATE OF ORIGIN to INTERNATIONAL LEVEL. Something like ALL STARS NRL Vs ALL STARS SUPER LEAGUE. Anyway GO NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...you need a good prop im available lol

Hornby has played for his State his Country and Captained his club side to a GF. Plus he is an excellent role model and been a good servant to the game. He is the type of person the game should be promoting. I don't know if there is there anyone more deserving?? People have to remember that this game is purely a showpiece that is used to promote the game, and it is a great promotion at that. It all sounds good to take these games to the country, unfortunately it would be the same as the City vs Country games, or NRL Trials that were taken to the county, and it would end up costing whoever hosted it a lot of money. Unless, the NRL were prepared to fund it, then I don't know whether too many regions would want to take it on.

Wish people voted for James Graham, he was my Doggies pick. Also Luke Lewis, would be in my top 10 players in the game easily, one of the few players who I'd pick as first into any team, but off the bench.

I know. Darius will be shattered! I have visions of Boyd lying on his bed, cuddling his pillow while watching one of the Austin Powers movies singing the "daddy doesn't care" song. Now where do i get a Ben Hornby "Allstar" jersey... lol...

Slater is just back from his broken collarbone and will be lucky to make round 1 so he wasn't eligible. Hayne will never get a run, to many people hate that pretty boy and he will never win a popularity contest which is what this is. Also doesn't help that you can only pick one player from each club.

How did Frank Pritchard get a run? Are Bulldogs fans hoping he'll get a season ending injury and make way for someone who is actually committed? Likewise Jennings and Blair. It's a good team, but there's that small handful of players who can admittedly break a game open on their day, but they're far more likely to cost a game out of sheer laziness.

It's a non event like the city country and should be scraped. Potential for partially fit players to get hurt before the start of the season. Not fair on club supporters. Just hope none of your stars get picked and I'm sure the various club coaches watch with bated breath and can't wait for the bs to finish. -- Comment left via The Roar's iPhone app. Download The Roar's iPhone App in the App Store here.

Wayne Bennett groups his players into categories and asks the public to select so many from each one. And also so many utility players. You also notice with his 2 picks he chose Lewis and Hornby who between them can cover every position barring the front row. The public then using Bennetts guide select the best team they can from within his guidelines.

Does anyone know exactly how the players are selected? I understand that it is based upon votes, with one player per club - but how exactly? If it is just players with the most votes, how do they ensure the side doesn't end up with 3 halfbacks for example?

I think the concept is locked into GC. THe AFL has it in Darwin when they play it so in regional centres only as its a bit early for most fans..The rep players never get a rest...

A point of contention for me is this. I love the All Stars match and think it is good for rugby league, but and a big but i have. I believe this match should be spread around all of Australia and other rugby league heartlands. Play it in townsville, cairns, newcastle, canberra, woollongong, parramatta stadium, penrith , gosford, Perth, adelaide, armidale, Mooree, tamworth, coffs harbour, tweed heads, towoomba, sunshine coast, morwell, geelong, ballarat, melbourne, darwin and alice spirngs would be great. Hobart ,devonport, launceston, burnie, beaconsfield, port adeliade, mt gambier, fremantle, all these places would be great. And many of these places mentioned have large aboriginal populations, would be great for expansion and promotion of the sport of rugby league. And new league markets too could get a taste of top quality rugby league.
