It's time to throw caution to the wind, Robbie

By David Lord / Expert

Realistically, the All Blacks are a 15 point better side than the Wallabies for tonight’s clash at Suncorp.

Robbie Deans, give ’em hell with eight forwards hitting every ruck and maul like men possessed, and seven backs running the ball for 80 minutes, committing themselves to all-out attack.

Every Wallaby supporter would be delighted to see their team stand up and be counted. Even losing would be saluted if the Wallabies gave this Test an almighty crack.

There’s nothing to lose.

The All Blacks are superior in just about every department, honed by 16 sucessive international victories.

The Wallabies have won one on the trot, and a gutsy win at that in Rosario a fortnight ago.

And the reason was Kurtley Beale.

Cut him loose tonight, Robbie, let him strut his own stuff that makes him one of international rugby’s most exciting players.

Let Beale create the time and space for centres Pat McCabe and Ben Tapuai to go well over the advantage line and feed wingers Adam Ashley-Cooper and Nick Cummins, with Mike Harris chiming in from the back.

Tries, let’s have some five-pointers – the only way to beat the men-in-black.

My sole concern is Deans has gone for a five forwards, two backs, bench. If any of the starting backs cop an injury, and the way things have been going in that’s on the cards, then all-out attack could be limited.

Again what the hell. Just keep going.

A special night for long-serving lock Nathan Sharpe, making his final appearance on home soil in Brisbane where he debuted for the Queensland Reds 15 seasons ago.

It’s fitting he’s leading his country against the undisputed best lineup in the world in front of a full house.

Of the 39 Wallabies who have worn the coveted gold jersey in 11 Tests this campaign, the 34-year-old Sharpe is the only Wallaby to start in all 11.

His resilience is remarkable, his dedication to the Wallaby cause undeniable.

A win tonight in front of home fans would be the ultimate farewell.

So throw caution to the wind Robbie.

Sad but true. The wallabies showed real character. Might not have been the greatest game, but the intensity was there and the Wallabies didn't deserve to lose. Fantastic effort, I thought many of the Wallabies had top games, and once a few players return, the only way is up. Hope they have an awesome EOYT.

Ceeboss, my point is it's not an anti-Aussie thing. It happens between all the provinces too... Otago, Waikato, Canterbury. I was about 10 when I started going to Shield games and players, refs and everyone is fair game. Auckland aside who tend to think games should be watched in silence and politely clapped being the main exception. I remember being at the inaugural world cup game between the AB's and Italy... JK hits the halfway line and then to the 40 metre stepping his way... I'm standing, jumping up and down cheering him on loudly... Everyone else politely held their seats until he got to the try line... by which time I was flying :-). Next time he got the ball from his 22 and was off again. This time the crowd around me beat me to my feet, which surprised and pleased me. My point is supporters have changed over time, but the passion hasn't. Booing is part of it all now. I don't like it, but aren't about to change it. So let it go and enjoy! Support in whatever way you want as long as you support. It's live and I love it all, especially when we can stick it to the Aussies :-) Trust me living over here the last few years, I get no end of stick about everything from sheep to cricket and league. And at the end of the day it is all fun and we drink beer and laugh. Too easy to take offence and for the most part the only person it upsets is you. That is one of the things I have learned since being here. And a good thing too :-). Go the AB's, enjoy it while it lasts!

It affects kiwis like.my father because there.behaviour miss represents the respectful and well mannered AB supporters. During the Wc my american friend asked what did aus to do Nz to warrant such disrespect and i couldnt give a reason for it. Instead i told him how we have the anzac connection and how aus was the firsy nation to help after the Christchurch earth quake n every other disaster n yet the Kiwis will boo n cheer for countries like russia who.couldnt careless about NZ.

All the ingredients for an upset tonight. All Blacks team who have won everything may just subconciously be a little flatter than usual, and maybe just a bit overconfident. Much maligned Wallabies will be highly motivated and hungry. Queensland heat wont suit the Kiwis. Big home crowd. Wallabies to win 19-17 with K.Beale MoM.

It was Cooper that sparked the team before he left the match injured. They were already playing that way so Barnes continued it.

Its a tragedy watching Australian rugby fall apart. I grew up watching Tim Horan weave magic, Toutai Kefu smash his way over for match winning trys and John Eales doing everything from dominating lineouts to kicking penalties right on fulltime to break my heart. Mike Harris couldnt even get a run with the woeful blues, let alone tie Matt Burkes shoelaces. In a backline so badly lacking for experience, talent, speed, skill it is an absolute crime that Ashley Cooper is not at fullback ahead of a reject for the awful blues. As someone who wants to be on the edge of my seat everytime we play a Bledisloe Cup test, I hope that tonight might spell the end of Deans so that you guys can get rid of the journeyman mentality and rediscover the next generation of Eales, Kefu and Burke.

i recon tonights game will be light on tries and more penalties carter to kick 7 easy penalties and 2 close to the touch line conversions for a 34 to 5 walk in the park win for the all blacks . look for the wallabies to be constantly offside , laying on the wrong side of the rucks when the all blacks are in thier 22... as this will be the only way the wallabies are going to stop the try -fest... and save some face on home soil...

What does it matter whether your dad is chinese and supports NBA. Sounds like both you and your dad need to stop worrying so much about what other people say. I personally wouldn't say Aussie doesn't know how to beat the AB's. I've been at the ground too often and seen the AB's get smacked by the Wallabies at home to be so bold, because it will come back and bite eventually... but for now the AB's are a hands down better side than what the Wallabies will field tonight. I hope the Wallabies do themselves proud tonight. For me that is all I want to see. But to say a bit of machoism from a fan about his team is a bit much for you and your dad, then I think it's a bit sad for you and him. I don't think your comments reflect the opinion of NZ or that of Maori... Is your dad a tribal elder and do you speak on his behalf and that of your iwi? Auckland fans should respect canterbury too.... Too funny!

How do you know... Has Deans told you what he did. If you went with that sort of Logic, you must think Campo is an absolute genius, because he loves nothing more than standing on his chair and telling you all his ideas continuously

If you remember the Bronze semi-final, Cooper left the field injured. it was Barnes that steered us home and was man of the match.

You seem like the type of Kiwi that gives the respectful Kiwis a bad name. My father is a Maori and a huge AB fan and he is disgusted by the way the AB fans like you disrespect the Aussies. Yes they are wounded and yes the AB are better but do you need to jump on Aus sporting forums and rub it in there faces? The AB get respect when they come and play in aus so it was only fair the Wlbys get some kind of respect from the AB fans like you and im sure the AB players are nothing like you and have been taught respect and manners. If the Aussies showed the same kind of spite in other sports against NZ, Kiwis would be scarred badly.

Exactly, the ABs will just absorb that initial pressure the ladies in green and will initially apply, that should last maybe 15 minutes then it will be back to some of those amazing skills by that back line with Keiran Reed running rampant, a game you cannot miss, it will be the most embarrasing loss the Wannabees are going to suffer under their wannabee coach, no excuses either, this is a Wannabee team regardless of the so called injuries. tah tah Clarise!!!!!!!

I just love the comment, even if we lose, we have to throw caution to the wind or something like that, not to worry, firstly you are assured of losing tonight and it will be huge, 42 to 9. Aussie dosen't know how to win against the AB's. ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS, WHAT SORT OF HAIR DYE DOES DEANS USE, after all these losses and pressure to step down one would think that his hair would have turned white by now!!!!!!

a written off Wallaby team is a dangerous thing. Im sure the ozzies will go hard till there legs and heart get tired. I wont deny that the start will be impressive by the Australians......but the All Blacks will let them have there fun, then shut them off like a switch and the game will swing violently with wallabies desperately defending there line from attacking New Zealanders for most of the second half.Should be interesting, not so much score line but how the ozzies will deal with constant pressure like theve never experienced before
