Farah back at training on Friday: Tigers

By News / Wire

The Wests Tigers have confirmed skipper Robbie Farah will return to training on Friday morning ahead of Monday’s home NRL game against Melbourne.

The NSW State of Origin vice-captain was given time off this week by coach Mick Potter.

Farah was a noticeable absentee from Tigers training at Concord Oval on Wednesday when the squad returned from a two-day break following Sunday’s loss to St George Illawarra.

The hooker has made headlines over the past week as pressure continues to mount on Potter.

Farah hit out at Gorden Tallis when the Queensland great revealed details of a private conversation more than a year ago between the pair.

Tallis said on radio that Farah had said Potter was not fit to be a NRL coach.

Farah reacted angrily to the claim and said Potter had the support of the playing group.

A Tigers spokesman said Farah had been given Wednesday’s session off by Potter in an attempt to clear his mind ahead of Monday night’s Storm clash at Campbelltown Stadium.

As much as I can't stand Rothfield this was in his column. NRL CAN’T FLUSH SCANDAL THE NRL’s sex tape scandal will not disappear like officials had hoped. Channel Seven’s Sunday night program continues to investigate the new incident involving two of the biggest names in the game. A video of two players having sex with a woman in a toilet emerged a month ago. One NRL club conducted its own investigation but took no action. The video was doing the rounds among players but, fortunately for those involved, copies were deleted and have not made it on to social media.

Not sure why it would come out now. The worry at first was that the 2 players would get dropped for Origin III. That would have been news. But releasing the story now would just be a waste of time.

More cowards that want to bag the best player in the club. Robbie leads the side well. He is consistently the best player on the field. The coach recognises that. You blokes want to destroy a club. You must be scared of the tigers. Thankfully both Mick and Robbie are sensible enough to get through this despite what you in the "Robbie hate media" think. Go the tigers

Firstly NQ Cowboy, it was 15-16 mths ago and secondly- One of my brothers who trained with Tallis in the Saints days, Tallis was a moron then and still! My 3 brothers and me were boarders at St. Gregs. Peter Mulholland is still assisting ...he was there when I was playing, and a great halfback? Have a guess who it was mate? He's a assisted coach the Roosters! ha ha

How exactly is he sticking up for Potter by repeating a comment about how he can't coach??? The raging pull is at it again!

If I was a tigers player I'd probably stay out of it and keep as far away from the drama as possible. They probably accept that robbie's ego can be greater than his conscience, so therefore probably wouldn't feel as bad about it (him deserting them).

Or Andrew, you can look at it the other way and say that Tallis has shown loyalty to defend his mate Mick Potter. He's exactly the guy you want in the trenches with you. I think you'll find that there is more support for Tallis for sticking up for Potter than there is for Farrah who was implicated in the sacking of the last Tigers coach. Farrah is stupid for making the comment in the first place if he wasn't prepared for it to become public knowledge and then gutless for not admitting that he made the comment.

Did he really say he was better than Cam Smith? Could not imagine this bloke Captain his State, let alone his Country. What sort of leader abandons his side as they head into the trenches? Cam Smith will show him all about Leadership this weekend.

I said yesterday, it is a shame for Tallis, as he will now find it difficult to get players to talk to him about anything of note, though having said that, what did Farah think would happen? Dangerous to say inflammatory things even when you use the "hand quote" "off the record" signature move... But... On the other hand, This would not have come to light had Farah's own Manager not backed Tallis into a corner and forced him to reveal his source... AND, could have been handled better by Farah, had he just admitted it, and said "it was 18 months ago, and it was a transition point in the team, I full support the Tigers moving forward"... Anyway, Tallis seems to have a more staunch moral code than Farah.

Couldn't imagine Meesta Bellamy, Dezzie or Bennett, saying "OK Robbie have a few days off".. that's why their teams show 'TEAM SPIRIT" -- it all comes down top respect and neither Robbie nor Meesta Potter are showing traits that create RESPECT!. The best Mick Potter could do, is show that he has balls enough to stand Robbie down for two weeks and make someone else Captain for the rest of the year... As I said earlier, Robbie's appealing and moaning at every decision that doesn't go his way, must be embarrassing for the fans and players alike! -- (Isn't this the guy that said "I'm better than Cam Smith?).. yeah right!. Such a pity, the guy is a good footballer!.

BA Great quote, I will use it in my daily email! Both Gorden and Robbie have handled this poorly. I get told something almost everyday about players and it it an unwritten law that you never give anyone up. My understanding was that Robbies manager sent an email to the Tigers and informed them Robbie would not be at training. I am not aware of any other player who would miss training and not be sacked. The coach has come out and said he was happy for Robbie to miss training which is weak IMO. The club face enormous turmoil at the moment and you need all of your leaders on deck. Wow, can you imagine how the players must feel knowing that Robbie just deserted them?

The difference between Tallis and Farah is that farah will stab you in the back without you knowing; wheras Tallis will stab you in the back with you knowing, and because you deserved it.
