Of course, I think RL & all sports should try harder to engage ‘new Australians’ if they want to remain relevant & have broader appeal. RL is by no means perfect but it does engage with several non Anglo/Islander communities. I think Indians have been a recent target & don’t read too much about Chinese engagement which as you stated is important. the only thing I did read which is interesting & perhaps has more geo political/influence than anything is the Chinese govt sponsoring an upcoming intl 9’s RL tournament in Samoa. How that pans out is anyone’s guess

The National Rugby League chairman thinks five hours on a plane is too much

They mouth off from the same hymn book of ignorance without even bothering to do any research.

Patrick, I personally think you are wrong about point 2. The NRL itself has the Harmony Program in QLD, NSW & Vic engaging immigrant/ethnic groups at a school level. Have you seen the Emerging Cup & heritage hosted in Sydney featuring Turkey, Poland, Philippines, Hungary, Malta, Greece, Italy, Serbia, Africa United or the latest Indian Jungle Cats not to mention the work by the Latin Heat which has now got NRL backing & they are on a promotion/development tour of Colombia & Brazil with the RLWC Trophy etc?

The majority of the Latin based games played here in Australia has a surprisinly large number of country of origin born players in the squads including El Salvador! Those games & the engagement of the immigrant community by RL has seen the game transferred back to their homelands in one form or another. Then we have the Lebanese which explains itself about how RL has attracted that community.

It’s just Mr Alias. Facts aren’t really his forte plus add Mr Mascord & an article on Intl RL & he has an aneurysm.

Should eligibility for the World Club Championship be based on nationality?

Unless they move Semi into the forwards. He’s quite a unit otherwise I’d kinda agree with you.

Semi on half: Radradra reportedly eyeing cut-price NRL return

Hope to see Kenya in those rankings in the near future. Another government recognises rugby league!

Kiwis pip Aussies to top rugby league world rankings

If you look at the tv ratings it probably outdrew some of our summer sporting events in Oz 😂

Passion filled internationals strengthen the women’s game

yet you spend a lot of energy on the matter. That sounds like not much of a life..

Kiwis pip Aussies to top rugby league world rankings

I like how Clipper is quick to 👍 these posts from Mr Alias.

Was great to see the PNG Orchids v England games on TV. Really enjoyed seeing PNG win that 2nd game.

Oh Clipper & you accuse others of liking posts to back each other up. Remind me how you are different?

Even Boris Johnson has to acknowledge rugby league if he is going to win the North according to pundits & the BBC. There is all the talk about ‘Workington Man’ & how ignoring constituents, who are likely to follow RL for instance, could well see the election lost by a whisker if ignored.

Pathetic British Lions not so great anymore

Plus he likes the posts of Mr Alias Hmmmm

Pathetic British Lions not so great anymore

Mr Alias is a world traveler, in his mind 😂

It’s a consensus then, we shall forever call it ‘Mr Alias’ 😁

International rugby league is making it harder for the whiners - but they find a way

Well Sam, it isn’t the Brisbane Roar which you once purported to follow . Non of your aliases on these league threads are no where to be seen talking about A League & no A League follower uses the union type league bashing rubbish you use, so its a fairly simple deduction.

International rugby league is making it harder for the whiners - but they find a way

Except Sam, it isn’t. Over 100 years ago it started off that way & as outlined here again, historically had so many roadblocks in front of it. I know Mr Alias will never acknowledge such history cos it really shows his privileged sport in a not so heavenly way, & I’m sure that the number of govts overseas that now recognise the sport refutes your ‘same position’ mantra. But you’re not here for facts hey.

Even America had the same naysayers about NBA being ‘overrun’ by Afro American athletes but people realised having the best athletes playing/suited to the sport elevated that sport & look at the NBA now.

Tonga too good for Kangaroos in massive boilover

My whole bug bear with this ASADA investigation when it occurred, and I’ll be accused of being a ‘typical leagiue’, was the NRL was made to front & centre in the media glare as though it was the NRL which had the most to be picked apart in this whole sordid affair & I thought hear we go, it is going to be a systematic expose of the sport with multiple clubs involved. And ASADA just stood back and allowed it to happen along with an AFL loving PM. Yet we found out the Sharks program had only been going for a few weeks and it was an AFL club which had been systematically cheating the system for over 2 years! Suddenly it went from being an ‘NRL thing’ to ‘Australian’ sport’s issue and there was even sympathy for Essendon & its players as though they had been ‘duped’. I certainly never got that impression by the media about the Sharks.

Essendon lost ZERO sponsors from that whole saga, the Sharks lost sponsors. The AFL by this time had the media on its tail & with ASADA had to be seen to take action. Even the Essendon coach at the time got an all expenses paid study jaunt overseas. The Sharks coach got kicked out.

ASADA chief hits back at Gallen

Yes, all teams should be given a fair crack at FTA TV. Why don’t they simulcast games into different markets to maximise ratings.

NRL free-to-air fixtures for 2020: Where does your team sit?

Wow West Coast Eagles would have to be the most jailed sporting club in the World for players. They are still getting busted from the latest a large drug importation arrest (Daniel Chick)!

I wonder with a compliant media & a deal with Vic police, we will just hear about AFL players involved in scandals once they retire but sweep sweep while they are playing?

Except the prisons are full of AFL players lol

Awww good to see Mr Alias as an equal opportunist with Wendy. More than one excited as both the ratings on Fox & FTA for the Jillaroos outdid the A league, NBL & motor racing 😁

Test preview: Jillaroos versus Kiwi Ferns
