The University Oval in Dunedin will be the venue for two teams who have never won a World Cup game in Afghanistan and Scotland as they go head to head from 9:00am AEDT on Thursday. You can follow the live scores of that game here at The Roar.
It’s not been an easy start for these two teams, having lost both their opening two games.
Scotland are in their third World Cup and are yet to win a match out of the 10 they have played. Eight of those games came in the 1999 and 2007 editions while the remaining two have been in this one.
Afghanistan are playing in their first ever World Cup, and theirs has been a romantic story, worth repeating over and over again. For a war-torn country to qualify for the World Cup is no mean achievement and they will now hope to cap it off with a win against Scotland.
It’s interesting that Scotland, after their efforts in pushing New Zealand to the wall, fell away dramatically in their game against England. England piled up 303 for eight from their 50 overs and Scotland, who were expected to give their opposition a run for their money, mustered just 182 in reply.
At least Afghanistan have had one decent game in which they could have even beaten a Test-playing nation in Sri Lanka. After going down easily to Bangladesh, Afghanistan had Sri Lanka in a lot of trouble when they reduced them to 51 for reply chasing 233 for a win.
It was only Afghanistan’s inexperience towards the end of the Sri Lankan chase that kept them from shocking their opponents.
Dawlat Zadran should retain his place in the side after bowling economically in their second game of the competition. Also looking to build on his half-century from the previous game, Asghar Stanigzai, will hope to build on that form.
Scotland have batted poorly over two games and will hope to change things around for this game. Calum MacLeod needs to get going at the top of the order while Matt Machan and Kyle Coetzer are a couple to look out for.
You can follow the live score of this Afghanistan v Scotland World Cup 2015 encounter from 9 am AEDT on Thursday and post your comments in the section below.

WELL DONE AFGHANISTAN !! Really from the bottom of my heart, that is so great to see you come from nowhere, get into the world cup and win a match! The game against Sri Lanka was good too, as they are a very highly rated side. Afghani's should be so proud, and let the success keep going.

Please Afghanistan knock over the Poms. Make my day (in fact it would be so good it would probably make my year!)

Two absolute crackers mid-week between the minnows and I've missed it whilst at work... Now that they've broken their World Cup cheery, I wonder if Afghanistan can go on and create some sort of mighty upset like they nearly did against Sri Lanka the other night... They've beaten Bangladesh before, but a real scalp (like England's) would be so sweet...

From the cricinfo.com live scorecard: "Afghanistan sit above Sri Lanka and England, with a better run-rate. They should be proud. So should Scotland. They have provided a spectacle that will live long in memory as long as there is a World Cup "

A wide... 9 from 7 now. Scots need to tighten up here. And a boundary has been posted! 5 from the last over needed!

Slight hesitation there as the 3rd umpire wanted to check the Scots fielding positions, but he's satisfied so one wicket left for AFG.

And he's gone! Pushed his luck too far, caught on the boundary. Shenwari totally disappointed, walks off on 96 runs.
