Tomane ?? No TWAS, Noooooo....He cant catch a highball. ..MCcalman continues to underwhelm at national level so noooooooooo. .ITA VAEA for him....Genia is playing better then White, so White out... TPN is a massive worry head knocks cant throw in a lineout..I`d have HANSON on standby after FAAINGAA.. Jones is a lighweight lock and gets outmuscled too much for me..Timani for him...

TWAS - You cannot in all seriousness compare the potential growth of TN to players like Lyons or Turinui who had been capped, and were at the end of their careers in europe not the beginning. Houston has developed well IMO and perhaps the reds should have tried to get him back or maybe he wanted too much money, I do not know. I know it is against the spirit of rugby of warehousing TN for the wallabies but other than that moral/ethical consideration , logically in terms of just considering the wallabies and the potential future players , yes it is worth locking in TN by giving him a couple of mins off the bench against argentina or usa. The same with Stirzaker, even if he does not make the rwc make sure he gets capped so SA or England can not get him, considering White and Genia are leaving.

Not sure it is correct to compare Taqele to some of the players you have TWAS. That said Houston has been playing pretty well in the few matches I have seen - thought the Reds may have bid to get him back as he is exactly the kind of big ball running backrower that has been missing from the squad. A guy like Steve Mafi is highlighting that we aren't identifying and locking in effectively. He'd be a shot to partner Skelton in my starting lineup if he was available for us. We are talking a Sydney born and bred, Aussie schoolboy and Parramatta Two Blue that went to Leicester Tigers at the age of 20. Is now back at 25 and looking great but has been capped by Tonga in the meantime. I have high hopes that Alo-Emile and Douglas will return to our shores better players. I don't advocate capping Naiyaravoro for the sake of it but he is a type of winger that we don't have equivalent tackle shedders coming through. Would love him to stay at the Tahs and see if he developes further but that is seeming unlikely.

I've got him as the starting 14.

Certainly if a starting position came up or if there was an early injury early in the game then I'd prefer AAC but I am thinking which player could influence a match more given 10 minutes at the death.

How much "busting up" has Nadolo done at international level? How many Fiji games have you watched? Did you know he's been playing at 12? How has he adapted there?

Ethan - I think that is a fair criticism in the past but he has certainly improved at Super level in the last couple of years and I think deserves another shot. He hasn't had much of a go at international level in the last couple of years has he?

You won't be saying it's pointless TWAS, if in a few years time he busts 'em up the way Nadolo does, and there is no question, without doubt, that he has that potential. He is green right now, but only a fool wouldn't be able to see the potential.

It's pointless selecting him for future planning, because we are relying on him to develop with zero control over that development. Yes Nadolo has come good. How many are still plying their trade in Europe after leaving our shores, of no value to any Super Rugby franchise even? Blair Conner, Julian Salvi, Henry Vanderglas, Morgan Turinui, David Lyons, Leroy Houston, the list goes on a very long way. Are we going to worry about a single player, because one other single player came good out of the other 99 that didn't in that time?

no but you said it was pointless and I provided a minor point. Actually longer term it may truly be of value. TN is unfit and rough and flawed. He reminds me of Nadolo. Nadolo went to europe to play, after 2-3 seasons ws the real deal, they made him a hardened professional. Look at him for the crusaders. In that time he has played for fiji. If we did cap TN off the bench even against Argentina then after 3 seasons in europe he could be a very very good player. He coudl come back to super rugby and still be available for the wallabies, unlike Nadolo.

Are we seriously going to worry about 1 winger, who would be playing for Fiji because he isn't one of our current best wingers?

but then he can't play for Fiji against us in the pool match

No he won't. His deal with Edinburgh was dependent on him being able to play for Scotland after 3 years. His deal with Glasgow is not. If we pick him, he still will be going.

It's pointless picking Naiyaravoro for future planning, as he won't be here in the future.

I think he's close, but we are well covered at 10 and Horne covering 11-14 provides more utility value.
