Jarryd Hayne is reportedly still on Parramatta’s books even though the former star left the club at the end of last season to pursue an NFL career in the US.
The Eels are paying the two-time Dally M medallist at least $50,000 this year which doesn’t count towards the club’s salary cap, according to Fairfax Media, who said the anomaly was uncovered as part of routine reporting.
Hayne was released from the last year of his contract last October to chase his American football dream, and subsequently signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
Parramatta have endured a turbulent time amid the departure of CEO Scott Seward and being fined $525,000 by the NRL for a raft of salary cap breaches last season.

Their marquee signing for next year (far as I know) is Shillington.

Jarred Hayne Tedious and irrelevant! NFL tedious as yooonion! (and if it wasn't American it wouldn't rate on the richter scale of yawn!) Story boring! And has for interviewing him for teh Footy Show in norder to give Beau Ryan a free holiday and a chance to name drop, it just smacks of a sport with an overwhelming sense of inferiority?????????? Question: Is it the silly season in Oz? Get a grip everyone and write something worthwhile and substantial about TGG.

So if hayne is on the Eels book why isn't the hysterical NRL media demanding the Eels and the NRL integrity unit investigate Hayne's tweet & issue a punishment? (Lol!) Interesting comparison too to see that no one in the USA media is demanding the 49ers or NFL do anything.

Possibly or even the Raiders. Do you think he may finally win a premiership playing for the Titans? That may be a box he wants to tick. How is their Roster shaping up?

What happens if your cap is full? Surely the guy needs to earn a living?

I wouldn't be surprised if Hayne returns next year with the Roosters. Parramatta have moved on with Keiran Foran.

It's unlikely that the Eels will sign the above players next season so i'de say that could potentially be the Roosters 2016 back-line.

@ Muzz - What are these other names you are referring to?

Will be interesting to see if the NRL ever use their so called "war chest". Still not sure how it would even work in a fairness sense, as in Parra getting Hayne over another team. As Parra would be well over the cap

Well it's definitely not a retainer. Hayne Toops/J Burgess Jennings Ferguson SKD Hastings Pearce

We can get the Nrl to use their war chest to get him back.

The question is why are Parramtta paying Hayne anything? This just reeks of guys in the club looking after old mates (Hayne), instead of having business acumen and understanding how to run a business / football club properly. Is this payment based on Hayne promising to not play for another NRL club should he fail in his NFL bid... When in all likelihood if/when he comes back Parra won't be able to fit him under the cap anyway
