Nathan Fyfe may miss out on the Brownlow after he was reported for high contact in Fremantle’s 11-point loss to North Melbourne.
Fyfe slid into high contact with North’s Ben Jacobs during the game, seeing his shoulder collide with Jacobs head and was reported for the incident.
While it wouldn’t be considered enough to cause a suspension on it’s own, if Fyfe cops a fine for the incident it’ll be his third for the year which makes for an auotmatic one-week suspension.
That would render Fyfe ineligible to win the Brownlow for the second year in the row, and through betting markets into chaos.
Fyfe has been the widely-held favourite for the Brownlow all year long on the back of some blistering form in the first half of the year.
While his form has cooled off a little as the year has continued, it’s commonly believed that his early-year form will be enough for him to hold out for a win on Brownlow night.
However, if he cops a suspension for this incident then he will be ineligible, opening up a wide range of potential Brownlow winners.
Dan Hannebery would probably be the next leading contender for the medal after a stellar season with the Sydney Swans so far, but there would be others in close competition.
Matt Priddis, who won the 2014 Brownlow, would be in contention to go back-to-back after another great season for West Coast. He’s a well-loved favourite of the umpires and sure to poll well.
Sam Mitchell has had an excellent year also and after missing out on so many occasions in the past, this could be his year if the cards fall in his favour.
Todd Goldstein – who kicked a game-sealing goal on the siren in North’s big win – could well be in contention too after what some see as one of the best seasons as a ruckman in history.
Patrick Dangerfield has also had a remarkable year playing for the Adelaide Crows and would be a chance after polling well in the last three counts.

And you might want to do some reading. He didn't make mention of two strikes in his comments.

I don't. I did it because it's a fact

Oh and for your info here's something I posted last time the lynch mob came for Fyfe citing preferential treatment Here’s a list of players still eligible for the brownlow after being only fined (melle’s excluded) 1. Firrito (striking) 2. Duncan (tripping) 3. Naitanui (tripping) 4. Tom Lynch (tripping) 5. Coniglio (rough conduct) 6. Luke Parker (rough conduct) 7. Jetta (rough conduct) 8. Trengrove (striking) 9. Longer (striking) 10. Laideler (striking) 11. SK Thompson (tripping) 12. J Cameron (forcefull contact) 13 S Mitchell (striking and kneeing) 14. T Goldstein (you know the another warm favourite for the medal) (striking) 15. J Gibson (striking) - note when he bumped Ballantyne in the head the MRP didn't even bother to review ... nice to have mates on the MRP 16. B Stratton (striking) 17. A Swallow (tripping) 18. Stokes (umpire contact)

Every player gets the two warngins before suspension. It's why Mitchell got a fine when he knee'd Fyfe this season It's why Mundy got a fine for whacking Harvey this season It's why Goldstein got a fine for tripping this season It's why the MRP have just moved their Christmas party to Vue du Monde - the fines keep rolling in. Geez Nev, do some research

Not at all Priddis is a different player all together hes up and under fyfe is more spectacular, i wouldnt be unhappy if Fyfe won the brownlow hes had a great year but i dont think its fair that he be able to throw himself into contests and have 3 warnings when other players are clearly hesitant about hitting the contest full on there shouldnt be any change in tribunal decisions based on a players chance at winning the brownlow, as i beleive thats the case here ,having said all that Priddis has also had a great year better than last year but i beleive Gaff will steal votes from him

I may be being cynical here, but by any chance has this something to do with Priddis being considered by some as a chance for the Brownose?

Don't forget Walters getting his head cannoned into while over the ball, subbed out with concussion, and…nothing, not a mention by the MRP, not even a free kick.

fyfe seems like a good kid but it seems unfair that he can go full speed into a contest and continually get away with it with 3 warnings and other players are walking on eggshells when they go into a contest certainly not a level playing field

No, no, Matthews and co were saying that about how Pendlebury adapted to the head high stuff. You're very sad. Nev. What's the trouble?

Honours by a whisker in round 3? Their stats were virtually identical apart from Sandi having 65% more hitouts than Nic, which was part of the driving force in the first half demo job Sandi would look at that game and think "yep, got the job done and some more.... excellent day at the office"

Good enough for Judd to get off after he put 7 stitches in Pav's face ..... good enough for Fyfe to get off after his opponent got up and played on unscathed But hey Edgar .... it's a conspiracy

Fyfe cleared...apparently elbowing people in the face is acceptable if you know people on the MRP

In that time, Sandi was contemplating having his toe amputated. 3 years of turf toe. You seem to think only Nic has had an injury.
