Jennings to sign NRL deal with Parramatta

By News / Wire

Star Sydney Roosters centre Michael Jennings will join the Parramatta Eels on a four-year NRL deal according to Fairfax Media.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Sunday afternoon the deal would be done within 48 hours with the clubs simply waiting on the approval of the NRL.

The news comes on the back of the Roosters signing Brisbane centre Dale Copley.

Jennings, who still has a year left on his present deal with the Bondi club, will have part of his contract paid by the Roosters in the 2016 season.

However, with the Eels then having to pay the full asking price over the following three years, they may need to offload players at the end of this season to ensure they don’t breach the salary cap.

The signing of Jennings will be a major boost for the Eels, who have lost both Jarryd Hayne and Will Hopoate in the past 12 months.

Jennings will join a revamped Parramatta outfit which will also feature New Zealand playmaker Kieran Foran, goal-kicking fullback Michael Gordon and State of Origin back-rower Beau Scott.

Epiquin, I would have to agree, altho Parra usually have decent crowds even when they are struggling, just need to put a few decent seasons together to really build them back up. Never went much on Jennings as him being a Penrith boy he hated the eels, now that he has finally joined big brother, I guess I'll have to try and get past that, better put in a good effort against your old clubs for us mate ;)

I can see him failing miserably at the Bulldogs due to certain elements of his lifestyle and the pressure it will put him under at the Bulldogs. And he showed in SOO that he was massively out of his depth.

Not sure Lussick will be in the 17. But it's nice to have depth again in the front row. It's been years.

I'm sure Hoppa is looking forward to being coached under a decent system again.

That's why they hired former salary cap auditor Ian Schubert as a consultant to manage the cap. If it got past his keen eyes, I'm sure it will pass his successors.

Parramatta looking good this year. May not be a premiership contender, but I think they will at least have an entertaining squad. Given that this will be the Eels last season at Pirtek Stadium in it's current form, hopefully we'll see a lot of bums on seats at Parramatta.

He played on the wing, outside a whole bunch of internationals. Michael Robertson looked good He spent 2 years away from the game, with no professional training in that period, and that apparently had no impact on his level of play

Has a player ever gone to the Eels and improved, after showing promise elsewhere? I just hope Foz doesn't go the way of others before him. He's too good a bloke and player. He deserves better.

Well I recall a sensational debut year which resulted in a premiership where he was one of Manly's best. You must remember differently. Your loss.

So Hopoate became Crapoate after getting the Eel career makeover??. Better start working on an insulting Jennings nickname now to save time

Hopoate was a gun before he went to Parra. See the pattern here?

questions have to be asked after this... we already know Parra are no good at managing their salary cap

Rugby league is a funny game. The Titans forge a signature on Roberts contract and the end result is Michael Jennings moving to the Eels. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Sam Couldn't agree more on both points and to those who keep bagging Jennings, he is a hell of a better option for Parra than Crapoate. I just hope Jennings learns how to pass the ball :-)

I don't think the loss of Will Crapoate is going to adversely effect Parra too much , I just hope NSW don't find him.
