WATCH: Jeff Thompson delivers the funniest Hall of Fame speech of all time

By Roar TV / Roar Guru

Jeff Thompson has stolen the show at the Allan Border Medal with a speech that had the entire crowd in stitches.

Dave Warner may have taken out the biggest gong of the night, but Thommo was all anyone was talking about.

His brilliant Hall of Fame induction speech, replete with his devastatingly funny, self-deprecating humour, was one for the ages.

One of those women was his wife who was having a good old cackle. I'll take your comments as sarcasm.

The glasses gag has been used in speaking functions (I hear Miracle Malcolm Johnston has used it too). There were elements of the boorish but it's hardly what I'd describe as offensive. It was also heartfelt. I enjoyed it. Would love to have seen what today's speed guns would have measured him at. I'm tipping 170 km/h.

Terrific speech from a magnificent cricketer and great bloke. Never really got back to his unbelievable pace of 74 and 75 after his should injury when he and Alan Turner collided going for the same catch. But still extremely effective and a true craftsman with the ball, don't be fooled by the self depreciating style, a very smart and good cricketer as the impressive record shows.

Victor, Thommo is from the old school he's not part of the politically correct culture like you, and that's a good thing.

Wow. There were women in the audience and that guy thinks that is an acceptable topic of conversation. Makes me ashamed to be a man.

Come on, folks. Thommo's Test career lasted from 1972-73 until 1985. He took 200 Test wickets and was one of the fastest bowlers ever to play the game. He was and is one of cricket's great unreconstructed characters. So at least spell his name correctly. Nothing is more fundamental than a bloke's name.
