Who will win the 2016 Super Rugby tournament? The Roar votes

By Patrick Effeney / Editor

Alright Roarers, the time has come for you to put your money where your mouth is and answer the question: Who will win the 2016 Super Rugby tournament?

And just as a little bonus, I’m going to throw in another question – who will win the wooden spoon.

I think, having put this little exercise together, that everyone who votes should announce who they’ve picked in the comments below, but that’s completely up to you.

And it’s pretty unfair to ask you guys to vote for who you think will win, and not have a crack at it myself, so here goes nothing.

Who will win Super Rugby in 2016?
To be honest, this is as open a Super Rugby race as I’ve seen.

I’m backing a New Zealand team to get it done this year, as I think the Brumbies and the Waratahs, while good, won’t quite be good enough to take it all the way.

I’ll go with the Hurricanes, who look ominous in trial form, and despite missing a few of their stars from last year, have a great squad with weapons all around the park.

They’ll beat the Waratahs in the Super Rugby final.

Who will ‘win’ the wooden spoon in Super Rugby in 2016?
If anyone’s spent any time at all following the Southern Kings news, it’s really not great.

By the sounds of things, and it really depends on who you ask, there are a bunch of legal, monetary and squad problems over there. And that’s not to mention the administrative issues.

So really it’s a toss-up between them and the Sunwolves. I think the Jaguares will be okay, based on nothing but some research of their squad and a little look at their trial stuff. But the Sunwolves will struggle, particularly with the travel element added in.

My bet’s on the Kings.

So go on Roarers, let me know who you think can get it done in Super Rugby in 2016. Results will be out Friday morning.

I'm tipping the Blues to be the big improvers for 2016, Kings for the spoon and the Reds to finish a respectable 10th.

Jaguares team against Cheetas : Lucas Noguera Paz Agustin Creevy Ramiro Herrera Guido Petty Tomas Lavanini Rodrigo Baez Pablo Matera Leandro Senatore Martin Lanadajo Nicolas Sanchez Emiliano Bofelli Javier de la Fuente Matias Moroni Joaquin Tuculet Subs:Julian Montoya, Santiago Garcia Botha,Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro, Matias Alemano, Facundo Isa, G . Bertranoy, Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias, Matias Orlando. Facts: mos caps : Martin Landajo 53, older Player 31 Leon Senatore, younger player: Emiliano Bofelli 21, 13 players of the starting 15 played in RWC2015, 8 players first time in a pro competition. Pretty good team I think, they are the ones that will be in the history book as the first pro team from Argentina. The nerves have to be there for them.

Gidday Paddy. Reckon Highlanders are looking strong again and may go all the way. One of the strongest back-lines in the competition. I think the Chiefs will be better too and would have them there or thereabouts if not for their calamitous injury ward. How will the Tahs go without Foley? Brumbies to finish higher this year. Really interested in how the newcomers fare, especially the Jaguares, who sport quite a few Test players and have a soft conference. Interested to see how the Lions travel too; they also look strong. And of course the Blues under new management could be a handful when they can pick their best to run out onto the paddock. Ranger and Charlie on the bench with Jerome serving a ban doesn't fill me with confidence against a full strength Highlanders (minus the Barracuda of course). I'm taking my son to Eden Park tomorrow so will report back. After the Black Caps getting annihilated by a very good Australia I'm looking forward to the rugby.

It's Common Sense. I'll have what he's having. Highlanders for the win, Kings for the spoon, Crusaders last of the NZ teams and Jaguares to make the playoffs.

Crusaders to win just beating out the Flying Pigs and Dreams are Free. Modesty prevents me from revealing the wooden spooners. Or sanity. I always get those two mixed up..,

I'd love to say the Blues to win, but .............................. For me, the Chiefs to win and probably the King's to be the cellar dwellers..
