Former NRL hardman Gorden Tallis says Adam Blair is “one of the dirtiest players on the field” after the forward was charged for a chicken wing tackle on his Brisbane teammate Sam Thaiday.
Kiwi forward Blair is facing a one-match NRL ban after being hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge for the incident in New Zealand’s 16-0 Test loss to Australia in Newcastle last Friday.
Tallis said he was disappointed Blair wore the Broncos jersey, claiming the tackle on Kangaroos forward Thaiday – a teammate at his NRL club Brisbane – was typical of the Kiwi forward.
“I think he is one of the dirtiest players on the field and he means to do it,” the former Kangaroos and Brisbane forward said.
“I think it is poor what he did.
“I don’t know why (Brisbane coach) Wayne Bennett keeps letting it go.
“I am disappointed he wears the Broncos jersey.”
Even with an early guilty plea, Blair will miss this Saturday’s clash against Manly at Suncorp Stadium.
If Blair is unsuccessful in fighting the charge he will miss two matches.
Prior to last weekend’s representative fixture, Blair also missed the Broncos’ 30-28 defeat by Cronulla in round nine due to suspension.
Brisbane have until midday on Tuesday to decide what action they will take.

What has the team he plays for got to do with anything renegade? I highlighted the inconsistency of the match review committee in allowing gallen to escape charge. Quite rightly, Parkers incident should have been looked at as well but if all you want to do is just turn this into a Broncos bashing thread then good for you.

Tallis (in his day), Scott and Thaiday are not in the same ball park for cheap shots as Blair IMO. Blair should be sidelined for longer, second offence already. Gordy has earned the right to voice an opinion, well said in my book.

Tallis is 100 percent correct, Blair is and has always been a dirty player. Having a player who gives away stupid penalties and gets suspended is a liability, tough players worry the opposition, not dirty players.

Enis was a bronco once too, didn't like him then either. Don't particularly like how Maguire thrashes out with his elbows every other hit up either. I just don't understand why some players are branded scum while others are praised for the same actions.

Pretty dissapointing comments from Tallis considering he once wore the Broncos jersey himself although after his falling out with Bennett he hasn't been a fan of the Broncos for the last few seasons. Blair and Boyd have been the two players who have turned the Broncos into a consistent team that you know will be competitive each week. I'd guarantee that fellow Broncos players love having Blair in their side. All this has done is shown the inconstancy of the match review committee in that you can elbow a defenseless guy in the head and not receive a thing but if you 'grab' a guy's arm then you will miss a week.

While Gorden isn't wrong. He proves himself to be the games biggest hypocrite at least every season I still remember him having a go at gallens origin punches when Tallis has tried to knock out half of the late 90s

I don't understand how Blair gets a bad rep but players like beau scott are "hard men" for consistently putting late shots on playmakers and enis is "smart" for picking fights and slowing the game down
