Last night, The Roar received an email from the mother of one of our younger contributors, Jadon Craig.
“I am the mother of Jadon Craig who wrote 6 articles on your site. Our beautiful son tragically passed away in a car accident in January this year. We are absolutely devastated but take much comfort in knowing that he brought so much joy to so many people.
“Please see my poem below. It expresses the feelings of a parent with the loss of a child. Would it be possible to publish it under Jadon’s name on your site?”
We want to pass on our respects to the Craig family, and say all of us at The Roar are grateful for the time and effort Jadon put into his articles.

Losing a child
They say losing a child is like losing part of yourself
Yes, that’s true, but there’s more
It’s losing your dreams for their future
It’s losing the right to watch them change and grow
It’s losing the ability to look into their eyes
It’s losing the sound of their laughter
It’s losing the sound of their voice
It’s losing their loving embrace
It’s losing the smell of their skin
It’s losing their promise to care for you when you’re old
It’s gaining an ache you never knew existed
It’s gaining an ever present tear
It’s gaining a yearning deep within your soul
It’s gaining a ‘happy face’ that hides a broken heart
Yes, they say losing a child is like losing part of yourself
That’s true, but there’s more, so much more
