Match preview:

The Geelong Cats will look to keep up a winning pace when they face the Richmond Tigers at the MCG on Sunday afternoon. Join The Roar for live scores from the match and a blog of the game, starting from 3:20pm (AEST).

While this match looks to skewed heavily in the favour of the Cats, one of the subplots at work that may prove more interesting than the result itself will be the battle of Patrick Dangerfield and Dustin Martin, who look to be the two front-runners for the Brownlow Medal at this point.

Dangerfield is the clear favourite for the medal at this point and the likely eventually winner. He is currently priced at $1.53 with betting companies, while Martin is the next best option but is out to $7 odds.

Rory Sloane is probably the only other player really in the conversation this year – Dangerfield and Martin feels like a virtual certainty to be the top two and while Dangerfield is almost certainly in the lead at this point there are still three weeks left for Martin to cause an upset.

A thoroughly better performance than Dangerfield here today would be a great start towards that, so let’s see if he can pull it off.

Regarding team news we’ve got a couple of changes this week for either side. Richmond have dropped Adam Marcon and will be missing Ben Griffiths through injury, Shane Edwards and Ben Lennon are their inclusions into the 22.

The Cats will be missing Daniel Menzel and Nakia Cockatoo through injury, while Andrew Mackie is being managed and Jed Bews has been dropped. Their inclusions are: Jake Kolodjashnij, Lincoln McCarthy, Shane Kersten and Tom Ruggles.

Prediction
The Cats should win this one comfortably, they’re a better side and have more reason to win.

Cats by 36.

Best for me in this game were 3. Dustin Martin 2. Joel Selwood 1. Alex Rance

Full Time Tigers 12.6.78 vs Cats 10.22.82 Wow what a sequence! Menagola caught cold with the ball, Cotchin sends it high and Riewoldt fliess above the pack but can't hold it, Rioli gathers but is unlucky not to be caught high as the siren blows. Game over the Cats win!

Q4 - 4:25 Remaining Tigers 11.6.72 vs Cats 10.21.81 Dangerfield sends it long, the bounce favours no one, but Hawkins gets on the end of it and kicks the goal off the ground from the top of the square!

Richmond also don't know that playing your defensive game after your attacking game has got you to a winning position will lose you a game

What? How on earth was there any difference between the contact on Reiwoldt and the contact on Taylor?

Q4 - 4:57 Remaining Tigers 11.6.72 vs Cats 9.21.75 Hawkins the one hander to Motlop who smashes one to Taylor, he gets the free kick! He hasn't kicked a goal this year! He has now!

Q4 - 6:08 Remaining Tigers 11.6.72 vs Cats 8.21.69 Riewoldt could have nearly sealed the game! But alas it wasn't to be the Cats now go the length of the field and Dangerfield finds Motlop. He goes back and breaks his duck of 4 behinds without a goal!

Q4 - 7:49 Remaining Tigers 11.6.72 vs Cats 7.20.62 Dangerfield goes inside and Hawkins marks it 50 out, now Motlop takes the mark in the pocket, Motlop runs around and misses.

Q4 - 8:44 Remaining Tigers 11.6.72 vs Cats 7.19.61 Plenty of time to run in this Dangerfield to Bartel, Rance does well, Houli to half forward, now Ruggles taken high by Rioli, it goes wide to Bartel, Hawkins can't mark the crucial spoil from Rance. But now the Cats through the middle, McCarthy bends it goalwards, but on the line Alex Rance is there!
