It was a thoroughly enjoyable game at Pepper stadium, which has seen the Roosters get home by two points.
It was a grinding, defensive effort indicative of the kind of pressure teams exert late in the season.
Penrith fans will feel a bit hard done by with the decisive try coming from a suspect, pass and there’s every chance they’ll be unhappy there was no penalty call on Michael Gordon’s last-second tackle on a flying Tyrone Peachey, but looking at the play it appears he went in low and the tackle did appear to bounce up off the arm and ball.
Both sides had periods of dominance in game that had 25 errors and 18 penalties yet still remained compelling viewing right to the end in wet, greasy conditions.
The Roosters move to 3-0 in 2017 while Penrith drop to 1-2, not that any of that matters so early in the season.
Final score
Penrith Pathers 12
Sydney Roosters 14

Roosters combinations are only 3 weeks old and they were also missing Ferguson. Careful what you wish for... Panthers attack might be better with Cartright but defensively he costs at least a try a game.

Isn't that the job of the edge forward. To run a line that picks out the weaker defender? Whislt very macho to deliberately pick out the big guy it's mind numbling bad play

Your comprehension has let you down again. I don't think the written word is your thing.

"decided by refs apparently " you goose it's up there in writing , your agenda is clear , like everyone else here , there are mechanisms to have this addressed and I've done so , from now on try and pretend I'm not here ,it will help you ,in the long run

You really don't comprehend the English language well at all, do you? Archer has admitted they got it wrong. I agreed (in advance) by writing "refs make mistakes". Where have I said that the refs made the right call? Don't know why I'm asking you a direct question. I know you won't respond.

No point in blaming Refs - it happens in every game. Last year the Roosters were worst affected by wrong Ref decisions that even cost them $40,000 in fines for criticising poor ref decisions. If they got a couple of 50/50 decisions this time around - they probably deserve it. It's the year of the Rooster anyway.

It is unfortunate that Michael's contract is up at seasons end and at 34 still has much to offer. Will be surprised if Tedesco is not in the #1 at the Roosters next season.

Two weeks and two very dodgy forward passes allowed to go uncalled. Why? There are four officials on the field and lines every 10 metres. Surely there is enough there to be able to work out if a pass is forward or not. Why can't the video ref rule on forward passes? It works in rugby and their game doesn't have lines every 10 metres to help.

Cordner runs at the little halves and is applauded as one of the best in the comp, over rated really. Reagan Campbell Gillard owned him last night, this guy is a beast. Give him Cordners blue jersey. Touchie, please speak up...we cant hear you?

Not sure about that. I would suspect the roosters will get in early and request the same refs again for the return match.

Good game soured by the Roosters game clinching try that shouldn't have been a try. If you watch the touch judge he definitely stops running indicating that it was a forward pass. The referee must of overruled him? Nothing suss there.

It would have been more fitting to have the refs sitting with Robinson in the post match conference instead of Cordiner. .

Refs fault on fire early this year. That's four games this weekend that have been decided by the refs apparently.

After finishing on the bottom last year the Roosters were "prem favs " before kickoff in the 2017 season , and the refs are keeping to script, a Penalty in the dying stages of that game should have brought golden point ,,, but everyone's forgetting Easts won the "Wonka golden ticket" during off season , sick to death of these refs , there all bringing the game into disrepute.

I thought it was the best, unbiased refereeing display I have ever seen especially Mr Bean the touchy who didn't see 2 obvious roosters forward passes and Toupo's foot on the sideline. Unless there is something put in place to hold the refs accountable for costing games, the NRL will always struggle to move forward. .
