Ten reasons why City will always be better than United

By Janakan Seemampillai / Roar Guru

City and United have been doing battle since 1881. The misconception out there is that United have a superior history to City.

Here are ten reasons why City will always be better than United.

1. City fans went 35 years without a trophy and we were still there. United lose one game and they go back to supporting Chelsea or Arsenal or Liverpool or Stockport.

2. City fans would acknowledge another City fan if they saw them down the street with a smile or a wave. United fans wouldn’t even recognise someone wearing a United jersey as they have actually never seen a United game and don’t know what the jersey looks like.

3. City fans actually know the names of their players.

4. Most people at City home games in Eastlands are actual football fans, most that go to Cold Trafford are just tourists who need especially made up song sheets so they can play sing along.

5. Dennis Law actually switched from United to City so he could score a goal and relegate United down to the second division.

6. Manchester United have owners that have put them in $582 million in debt, City have owners that actually care who have them in no debt.

7. When United fans make fun of City fans we can have a laugh and not care what they say, when City fans make fun of United they have melt down and tell everyone they didn’t buy success 0 despite being $582 million in debt.

8. United fans genuinely believe the best players in their history like Frenchman Eric Cantona, Dutchman Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Portugese star Cristiano Ronaldo and Dane Peter Schmiechal were actually born-and-bred Mancunians.

9. United fans will sulk about this article and say they have won 20 English titles when the reality is half of them were when they were a monopoly and spending $582 million of someone else’s money.

10. We are Manchester City and they are Manchester United. End of story.

With regards to point 8, It's a misconception that United developed most of their players. Cantonna, Roy Keane, a lot of their great players in tbe 90s were bought. And they did develop some talent but were able to keep them cause they had money! Other clubs developed players to but couldn't afford to keep them and united bought a lot of them!!!

On the premise this is a serious article, I can only say that Manchester City Football Club would want to disassociate themselves from this, if they ever happened themselves upon this effort. Not sure how you can claim City would be better than United, given the success of the two clubs. This from a Liverpool fan.

Anyone that claims Peter Schmeichel isn't a Manc hasn't heard the bloke speak. The only way he could be more Mancunian would be for him to front a late-80s baggy band.

Sorry for the delay, got interrupted anyway 7. Prawn Sandwich Brigade find it hard to take when they have a mortgage to repay while city supporters act like they are battlers when they are being funded by a sugar daddy who clears all their bills. 8. It's not hard for Mancunians to claim the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Jaap Stam, Cantona, Schmeichel as there own considering the dedication they showed the club, Such commitment to the community they represent is the envy of all football clubs. 9. Manchester United traditionally scouted talent and developed it, This whole thing of going out and buying players for record transfer fees is a new concept to the club, How much did Carrick cost the club, Fletcher, Neville, Giggs. Ferguson always built a champion team not a team of champions. 10. Whens civil war going to kick off, let it begin

1. United got seventy thousand people a game after they got relegated to the second division in 1974. 2.United rebuilt their whole squad after the Munich air disaster 3. Ask people from any generation and they will remember back to their childhood when United made the beautiful game beautiful; who needs to be up to date when you have memories. 4. Manchester United supports the local tourism industry 5. Roy Keane destroyed City's players career after insulting him 6. Manchester United doesn't get it's money from royalty that's claim to wealth is plundering a nations oil reserves, Citys owners have been criticised for human rights abuses.

I was expecting humour and wit, nothing wrong with mocking other teams with tongue in cheek articles and there are many reasons one can come up with why any team is better than any other team but come on this was terrible.

Is there not some sort of vetting procedure to have articles printed on this website? What utter nonsense...

Although if he really knew the "Law story" he would have acknowledged the apologetic manner in which he scored that goal and how regretful he was at the time although a season in division 2 was a shot in the arm for them really. They came bouncing back at first attempt, brought enormous crowds to the second tier although at the time it was not always welcomed as there was nearly always trouble surrounding their away fixtures either by design or through travelling to other heartlands etc. At that point in england, the FA Cup was as important as winning the league and whilst they disappointed against Southampton in 1976, they won a memorable final against Liverpool the following season, preventing them from doing a treble of league, cup and european cup. That was followed by that cracking 15 minutes in 1979 against Arsenal! If I was seriously going to compare the two clubs, I would stick to the overall impact made by the two clubs and the memories they jave created down the years. That being the case, Utd, particularly since the advent of EPL would win hands down. BTW - I am not a supporter of either but acknowledge the contributions the respective clubs have made.

The worst article I have ever read on here. The writer is probably 8 years old though so gets a point for knowing who Law was. Strange he forgets or is unaware of the crimes of the previous owner and how only a sugar daddy took them from a laughing stock to the top...

Thanks for that delve into the dim and distant past, bringing up memories of playground arguments that regularly brought up non sensical and highly subjective monologues entitled "why my team is better than yours". It reminded me that quite often, the only way an argument of this nature was settled was when one of the protagonists finally realised that the best way to settle it was to punch or kick the other and so start a fight. All the kids in the playground would gather in a big circle, creating an arena and the two combatants would tear into each other. Naturally, the fun police (teachers) would eventually arrive on the scene and if they were not suitably entertained, they would grab the gladiators by the ear and separate them before interrogating and eventually caning them both. When asked what the fight was all about and who started it; the response was often " he said his team was better than mine, so I hit him".

He is one of the tourists he was referring to. An oxymoron if ever there was one.
