It’s a bit of a strange set of circumstances this one as due to the Commonwealth Games currently being played in their stomping ground, they’ve been forced to find alternate venues for home matches.

One of them will be the match they’ve sold to Port Adelaide in China in a few weeks time, but this time around it’s selling a home game back to Fremantle who get a nice tasty advantage in return.

Apparently it was the West Coast Eagles who first had a crack at this but the AFL blocked them and organised for Fremantle to do it, perhaps thinking it’d be an easier pill for fans to swallow.

But it’ll certainly be an interesting saga to watch in the long term say if Fremantle manage to beat another team into finals by a win or less after getting this bonus home game today.

Anyway, enough of that – both of these teams are in good form and have reason to believe they can win today.

Fremantle’s Round 1 performance was simply horrible, but their Round 2 bounce back against Essendon on Saturday night last week was sublime.

Gold Coast have played two good games of football and gotten two wins as a result.

Prediction
Perhaps controversially I reckon home ground advantage could play a big role in deciding this one, and I’ll give the nod to Fremantle as a result.

Fremantle by 18 points.

That Pearce to Fyfe to Walters goal was magnificent. Let's not neglect the fact, too, that BEFORE he made the opposition look like traffic cones as he bolted through three Suns forwards and spotted up Fyfe with a pinpoint pass, he first won the ball on the back of second and third efforts. This guy is an absolute gun.

11 more in Perth though. I'm hoping by the derby West Coast will still be winless at Optus Stadium, adding a bit of extra pressure to get their first win there!

Pearce has played on Dixon, Daniher, and Lynch so far for a grand total of 2 goals kicked on him. All-Australian form so far.

Had to love Pearce's rollicking weave and dash out of defence to fire an audacious missile of a kick to spot up a covered Fyfe in the centre, which Fyfe smartly put in front of an accelerating away Walters to allow him to drill it through for a major. Freo didn't play perfect footy today, but there was plenty of dash and audacity, typified by players like Langdon, Wilson, Hill, Walters, Ryan and Pearce. Also felt pretty assured things were going to go Freo's way whenever Fyfe, Mundy, Wilson etc got involved.

The kicking efficiency of Blakely, Ryan and Wilson is becoming so important. Great to have Sandi, Walters, Langdon, Pearce and Blakely back after missing so much of last year.

No one rates Cornes opinion but afl.com gives him a forum to speak on their behalf.

Full Time That's the game! Dockers threatened to kick themselves out of it at times, but in the end 31 scoring shots to 17 is pretty decisive.

Michael Walters going off with a potential injury in the last few minutes - not ideal.

Just realised upon checking the score that this is a Suns "home" game. The integrity of the draw is continually put into question.

Do you rate Cornes opinion? I wouldn't suspect he sees much of the WA games

Behind Fyfe kicks a behind. About five minutes left in the game now.
