NRL team list Tuesday live blog: Round 7 – all 16 teams named

By Scott Pryde / Expert

The first quarter of the 2018 season is done and dusted, and there will be plenty of changes across the NRL ahead of Round 7. Join The Roar for live coverage of team list Tuesday from 3:30pm (AEST).

The Cronulla Sharks appear to have been hardest hit last week, with forwards Andrew Fifita and Paul Gallen both succumbing to injuries.

While Fifita’s isn’t as bad as first thought, Gallen is likely to miss ten weeks or more, while Fifita may only be out for a month. Wade Graham also joins the duo on the sideline for a month, with the Sharks set for a major shake-up in the forwards, to go with obvious changes needed on their left edge after a 40-20 thumping at the hands of the Dragons, who remain injury-free.

The news Matt Gillett has been playing with a fractured neck came as a shock. He didn’t play last week after being excluded late in the piece, and in a big blow for the Broncos, the Queensland second rower is expected to miss eight to twelve weeks.

The Penrith Panthers are also going to struggle to replace a star, with Josh Mansour copping a fractured cheekbone.

It happened when Titans winger Anthony Don ran through to take a high ball, accidentally kneeing Mansour in the head. He is expected to miss six weeks.

Solomone Kata is also likely to miss some time for the Warriors after picking up a high ankle sprain.

Still on the Warriors, and Leivaha Pulu is likely to be out for an extended period with a similar injury, while all of Nathan Peats, Matthew Lodge, Jai Arrow, Luke Lewis and Sio Siua Taukeiaho are listed as possible players this week, the former four picking up minor niggling injuries last week and Taukeiaho being cleared of needing surgery to his knee.

Two examples: Craig Smith (Storm) vs Craig Smith (Dragons) Jeremy Smith (Eels at the time?) vs Jeremy Smith (Dragons at the time?). They played a test together too.

Thing about Gillett is even though he had a broken neck that was limiting his game somewhat he was still running pretty good lines. Unlucky not to have bagged a couple of tries imo. Though extremely lucky other things didn’t happen.

Yep. Green is very loyal to the old boys. He definitely doesn't subscribe to Albert Einsteins theory of “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” I hope he swaps a few position between the bench and the starting pack.

Frank and Lewis Brown were regulars last year but neither have much impact Paseka could be anything but it's a pity Hastings isn't on the bench as he was playing well and actually running the ball at times. This year is looking more like a year where players get experience for a future title challenge as a few things are going wobbly. I still believe we have a good roster but we need to get going soon.

Would have loved to see how he went among a team that actually turned up like on Saturday and he hasn't been able to rely on his combination with Gillett (for obvious reasons). I expect that there'll still be plenty of line breaks from him when he comes off the bench

That Nikorima dummy though...when it comes off its as clean a break as you'll see..just can't seem to finish it off with a try.

The problem is Nikorima hasn’t been terribly creative either. He seems to have three plays, a short ball, out the back to Milford, or a dummy. Once again though he’s been playing behind a pack that’s been error after error after error. It’s hard for a half to have an impact behind a beaten pack but nearly impossible to have an impact behind a pack that’s beating themselves.

They were making meters for fun which helps, and having an extra big body like Bird around the ball certainly helped keep the momentum going off the back of the forwards strong runs (and having Oates back helped massively to get sets rolling). Boyds timing in chiming in is much better when half the team isn't flat footed My only concern with having Bird in the halves is that he seems to be a bit limited creatively and it might not take teams long to work him out, but if they go back to having Nikorima coming on for the last 10 or 15 of each half all he really has to do is hold his own until then and capitalise when all three are on the field against tired opposition.

Yep - for the team the pundits wrote off as having 'no talent' prior to season start, I'd say we have more depth than anyone!

Got to love the Tigers depth. We have 3 players out but it doesn't matter. The next players are experienced..

Agreed. Sort of hoped for this as Jack needs to be involved in the game more.

I didn’t watch the whole game because I was working and got the times mixed up, but from the extended highlights and the 20 or so minutes I did watch it seemed to me the bigger factor was that Brisbane were running over the top of the warriors nearly every set allowing Boyd and co to be more involved. Without the pressure of constant mistakes the Brisbane pack were able to play a fast, tiring game. Now if only we could do it more than once a month.

The Panthers will be without the injured James Mansour. He is replaced by Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, who makes his return, while Corey Harawera-Naera and Isaah Yeo do a straight swap between centre and second row. Tom Eisenhuth joins the reserves list.

Not for the first time this season, there is a reshuffle on the Shire. Josh Dugan has been slated to play fullback, Jesse Ramien comes into the centres and Matt Moylan shifts to the halves with Trent Hodkinson dumped back to the reserves. Andrew Fifita has been named in a shock move, while Paul Gallen and Wade Graham are missing, with Kurt Capewell and Joseph Paulo their replacements. Scott Sorensen and James Segeyaro join the interchange bench.

They finally bit the bullet with young Lamb. Despite all the hype, he is just not up to the NRL level at this stage. Not sure that Cogger is either, but a change was needed.
