The South Sydney Rabbitohs are looking to consolidate their top eight spot when they take on the Canberra Raiders at Central Coast Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 3pm (AEST).

The Rabbitohs have three wins and three losses so far this season and are currently sitting in seventh spot. They’re coming off the back of a good win over the Roosters last week.

They’ll be bolstered this week by the return of lock Sam Burgess from a two-week suspension. That pushes Jason Clark back to the bench.

After a slow start to the season where they dropped their first four games, the Raiders have won their past two matches against Canterbury and Parramatta. They’re currently in 11th spot, but just one win outside the top eight

Coach Ricky Stuart has named an unchanged Canberra line-up this week, with Aidan Sezer and Blake Austin once again the halves.

Souths start as favourites, but on paper, it’s a pretty even matchup. Both teams have strike power in the backs, but the Rabbitohs probably have the edge in the forwards. Rabbitohs fans will be hoping the Burgess brothers can lay the platform for livewire hooker Damien Cook to use his speed out of dummy half. He’s been in great form this season and is pushing for a State of Origin spot.

Prediction: Souths by 7.

My comprehension is fine. But to help you out here He mentioned the Warriors and Jackson’s in his first post. I replied to that and in his subsequent and seperate post he mentioned the hits from whitehead and the burgess bros and then said he doesn’t like seeing big blokes hit little blokes late. In my reply to that subsequent post given whitehead and burgess are both big blokes then he must be referencing burgess and Sezer. If you further read my reply I stated that on both occasions the Canberra players still had the ball so how could those tackles, as referenced in the preceding post, be late? Now that I have assisted you in the comprehension space I can tell you I believe Geoff didn’t respond because whilst he may be peeved at late shots on his half, as I am on Adam Reynolds, Johnathon Thurston, Luke Brooks et al, he should have started that rant when there was actually a late shot and had now realised that as the Burgii tackles were not late that in fact he had no valid point in regards the Burgess issues Espessially Not when the only late, high shot came from Whitehead on a player that didn’t have the ball. Just for your info Brent Finch call that shot as cheap as it gets And that was my point that whilst calls are being made for Sams send of this and the prowler tackle went unpenalised. To refresh your memory http://www.sportingnews.com/au/league/news/elliot-whitehead-thomas-burgess-hit-nrl-canberra-raiders-south-sydney-rabbitohs/p3gkysxpucu81jgvsqwzxg86v Hope this assists in clarifying as I am always happy to discuss points of view but to simply say he could not be bothered ............

He didn't say that the tackles by the Burgess boys were late. Maybe work on your comprehension. He did reference a late hit by Josh Jackson and by the Warriors but he made no reference to the tackles today being late. So it is hardly surprising that Geoff did not respond to you again

That’s what people say when they have no valid point. Thanks for playing though.

I think I've seen something about Garvey having done something off field on The Greenhouse but I'm not quite sure what happened. If that's the case its a real shame as the bloke can obviously play. He carved it up for the Mounties today. He's the obvious candidate to be on the bench. Not sure what is going on with Havilli. He plays for 70 minutes against the Dogs with no problems last week and then gets taken off after 15 minutes against the Bunnies. Go figure. I have real concerns about the Raiders this year. All this talk about Paulo and Papalii possible leaving and the continued poor form of Blake Austin plus the charges hanging over Wighton. I have real concerns it could all fall apart. And I'm still not convinced that Ricky Stuart can coach.

I've just had a look at the Sam Burgess tackle. A couple of weeks ago he elbowed Morris in the neck and I thought he should have been sent off. Burgess ridiculed Morris and decided he wasn't guilty of much at all and got plenty of support. Most players go a whole career without elbowing a player in the throat and a huge number go a whole career without hitting a player in the way he hit Seizer. Both incidents could have resulted in devastating injuries . Message to Refs if someone can't control themselves and the incidents are serious enough send the player off. Give the benefit to the victim of the crime and not only to next six teams that Souths play against, it's ridiculous. Six weeks , that's right.

Burgess hit on Sezer twice as hard as Morris and he got strait up ready to play. No theatrics there. Enough said.............

I don’t know what point your trying to make regarding late hits when Sezer and Bateman both had the ball when the tackles were being made. Cannot be late in that instance can it. However when one player is being held with his back exposed so another defender can smash into it then I agree there is no need for those distasteful tactics. As far as late hits the one that would be of main concern as mentioned was on Tom burgess. Late, high and to his back off the ball. Both of these were from men in the lime green. My point was these were far worse than the ones from the Burgess bros but nothing said. I understand a fans biased statement when your side has just been pumped but expect to be corrected when you do.

Its just so frustrating Geoff, week after week. Unless he was injured there is no reason to pull Havili so quickly. The team looks real good with him on. I would love to see Garvey get a run as well, but rumours are he went full Conor Mcgregor a few weeks ago on a night out (again) and isn't going to be getting a game. To be honest a bit of that might be what the team needs. The most frustrating thing for me is I think we are good enough to play finals. Stuart just seems to be coaching the talent/enthusiasm out of everyone.

I'm with you Gary. Ricky has no idea how to use his bench. If Havilli needs to come off he needs to be replaced by a specialist hooker e.g. Garvey - not a makeshift hooker in Hingano. I have absolutely no faith that Ricky know what he is doing with this mob. Saw some highlights of Souths powering through Austin to score two tries. The bloke is finished in my eyes. Complete turnstile. Not sure where to from here for the Raiders. They are definitely not top 8 material from what I've seen this season.

The Whitehead hit on Burgess (the big one minus the curly hair) was dumb and unnecessary and the hits by the other dumb Burgess brothers on Sezer and Bateman were just as bad. What I don't like is seeing big blokes hitting little blokes late when there is no need for it. Happens far too much. I'd like to see all these grubs get rubbed out.

Raiders fan of many many years here and I reckon the Bunnies are the real deal this year. Powerful forwards and polished backs. Cook is a gun too, must be the Blues hooker. Hope the Bunnies smash the Broncs too. Stuart is a complete meatball. Seriously. Havili taken off after 15 minutes and replaced by Hingano - a halfback? The 125 kg Paulo on for the whole first half? Continually picking Wighton at Fullback and Croker in the centers? The only time Stuart has got his bench use right was against the Bulldogs when 4 players were down and he literally couldn't stuff it up. Whats with Austin's tackling technique too? Dude looks like he is on Acid or something

Come on Geoff, I’m sure Sezer was just rolling around on the floor to milk a penalty... Surges is a great player but he is an absolute cheap shot merchant and has zero credibility...

First, its not true that 'Sam Burgess puts on his usual stiff arm to the head of a smaller player' that is more like Tariq Sims from the Dragons, secondly, Sam is reckless and his tackle was stupid. Souths will suffer for his action and his brother George if they get suspended. Next weeks Broncos game will be a hard one and Souths need both Sam and George if they have any chance. very disappointing and as I've said before, this was very hollow win for the Rabbits! But looking at the bright side, Souths have gone well without Sam in the previous 2 games so, there is a light at the end of the tunnel even if both get suspended.

And we hear nothing about the prowler tackle from Boyd or the off the ball high shot on Tom burgess that saw him off for a HIA. People in glass houses.........

I don't know how Aidan Sezer can string two words together given the head high treatment gets each week. Smashed head high late by the Warriors 3 weeks ago for which the bloke got suspended, smashed late by Josh Jackson two weeks ago but Jackson escapes suspension and now the grub Sam Burgess puts on his usual stiff arm to the head of a smaller player and shakes his head after being put on report. Seriously the halves deserve a lot more protection than they are currently getting. Back to drawing board for the Raiders. The line speed from the last two weeks was nowhere to be seen. And for God sake Ricky get Garvey on the bench as the hooker replacement for Havilli. Didn't get to see the game but it sounds as though Austin and Sezer back to being ordinary again.
