T20 World XI to take on the West Indies

By prakhar Bharadwaj / Roar Rookie

The West Indies – defending champions of the T20 World Cup – will play in a charity match on May 31 against a World XI side at the iconic Lord’s ground, to contribute to the victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Let’s have a look at the best possible World XI if all the players available.

Openers: Shikhar Dhawan and Alex Hales
Alex Hales is among the most explosive opening batsmen in T20 cricket. England’s most important batsman, he will be a great opener for this side in his home conditions.

Hales will be accompanied by his Hyderabad teammate, Shikhar Dhawan. One is one of the most consistent openers in cricket, his performances in the last year or so have been phenomenal.

Middle order: Virat Kohli, Eoin Morgan and AB de Villiers
Virat Kohli is an automatic choice for any team in any format – the most important player in the team, he can win a match on his own.

England captain Eoin Morgan has already confirmed his participation in the match. He is one of the best middle order batsmen in T20 at present and will steady the innings.

AB de Villiers is an explosive batsman and is a definite pick in any T20 side. On his day, he can demolish the opposition and single-handedly win the match for his team. At No.5, de Villiers can play both, the role of a finisher as well the role of a sheet anchor, depending on the match situation.

Wicketkeeper and all-rounder: MS Dhoni and Shakib Al Hasan
MS Dhoni can walk into any team on the back of his impressive performances over the years. His experience is an invaluable asset and he is the best wicketkeeper in world cricket. The former Indian captain would play the role of finisher.

Shakib Al Hasan is among the best cricketers Bangladesh has ever produced. The ICC’s number 1 ranked all-rounder in T20s will bowl four overs and finish the innings.

Spinner: Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan is among the brightest talents unearthed in war-torn Afghanistan. The ICC’s number 1 ranked bowler in T20s is a special talent, having bamboozled batsmen across the world by his googlies. He has succeeded the world over in various T20 leagues.

Pace bowlers: Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is among the best bowlers in the world, having been particularly impressive over the last year or so due to his swing and accuracy.

Mitchell Starc is an explosive bowler, whose pace and toe-crushing yorkers are a huge asset to any side. Although his frequent injuries are a concern, his phenomenal skills make him a must.

Bumrah has improved immensely since his debut for India. Among the best death bowlers in T20, he will perform that role for this side.

Doesn’t matter how much t20 crickets been played or form, if starc is to be fit on the day and bowling well in any form he will be in the worlds best t20 X1. If not then the other bowlers will be considered. Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch would go very close to nabbing a spot also.

As long as Kohli is not captain and Corey Anderson is not selected, judging by yesterday results RCB vs CSK in the IPL. Anderson bowled what has to be the worst spell of bowling ever in t20 cricket and Kohli kept bowling him to make sure they lost the match. I dont watch much IPL but that match was so bizzare and exciting if you are a CSK fan. Is Kohli really that good in t20 cricket,I dont think he has the skills to force the run rate like De Villiers, who I think is unstoppable if he wants.

I wonder if Warner could be considered for this match?

Not sure Starc should be considered. He hasn't played a T20 game in over 18 months and there are better 20/20 bowlers playing the format and in form. he is, however, a draw card and can be lethal on his day so I do understand why he is named. just a bot harsh on the quicks currently bowling well and fit. Perhaps, name a replacement to cover the injury prone Aussie quick.

Perhaps Bravo instead of Bhuvi as a death bowler along with Bumrah?
