Great comment. I think 5.5 to a 6 is fair also, but didn't vote.

Great things are expected of the Iceman because he is brilliant and doesn't do flaky things like his only competitor for the position, Quade Cooper.

22% gave Foley a 6, which is a shade below what is usual on Roar for the proportion for the most common score (mode). Most of the others also had 6 as their mode. To me that says the crowd thought he was one among many ordinary WBs. His average is more than 1.5 points below his mode, which is unusually big and suggests a big number of very low votes skewing in down. Suggests he was the focus for those looking for a scape goat. H8ters gonna h8, I guess ... I’d have said 5.5 for Foley was fair. Game management and play making are key jobs for a 10 and he was ordinary in these roles. He is also a senior player yet seems to do little leadership work. Have you ever played in a band? Doesn’t matter if your singer can’t sing or your bass player is ordinary. But a bad drummer ruins a band and a good one carries a band. To me, the halves are the ‘drummers’ of the team. They stand out most when they are brilliant or not good.

Kurtley should switch to #10 when Bernard has run out of ideas... usually at the 10 minute mark.

Simmons played well again; he tackles around the legs so the pilferers can get to the ball easily. Colemans chest high tackles were ineffective when three irishmen were backing up the ball carrier. the French demonstrated how badly a game can go when you don't have a reliable lineout and good delivery to the halfback.

yep - and hopefully the departure of Phipps / Foley. It just doesn't work.

I counted 4 clear errors from Phipps. While that's a poor effort it was probably his best ever game for Aust

If anything the new ruck laws have made Pocock more valuable. The new laws make it harder for a layperson to effect a pilfer. Very few backs or non-loose forwards have got their heads around the new laws. Pocock on the other hand has got his head around the laws and hence his turnovers are more valuable than ever.

Exactly. Also Kerevi is not a player you give the ball half a metre from contact. You give him the ball 2m from contact so he can use his feet to find the space.

Wow. Pocock is just immense. He would waltz into any world team if selection had nothing to do with Cheika. He's the only player we have who seems to have his brain wired for Rugby. Others, Michael Cheika specifically, have turned the Wallabies into professional era collision zone rugby league players. Intricate, traditional rugby elements and tactics have all been scrapped, in my opinion, for the false belief that winning the gain line, earned hard at the collision zone, is the way to winning at the expense of all other ways. Oh, to have Michael Lynagh's stunning kicking game available to us. If he was around now, Cheika wouldn't select him. On a side note - Pocock to 7 and captain. Hooper to play for Souths Brisbane.

Phipps was serviceable for much of the match. But he had about to same number of poor plays that we’ve consistently come to expect from him. Some cost the Wallabies, some not. 26 min - Phipps sprays a crazy pass only metres from the Wallabies tryline and is barely gathered by Kepu - jumping and pulling the ball in by his fingertips. Lucky escape. 30 min - Phipps throws an intercept to an Irish runner, but it is pulled back for prior Irish infringement. 50 mins - 51 - a poorly judged and executed pass right on the Irish tryline line cuts out Beale to find a hospital pass awaiting Foley (who himself attempts a poor tap in pass) kills a great chance for a Wallabies try. And while Robertson was industrious, he is benefitting greatly from the work of his front row colleagues. 62 mins - at scrum, Tupou dominates the Irish loosehead, bending him and half and earning the penalty. Meanwhile, on the other side of the scrum, Robertson gets popped. Big contrast in set piece effectiveness.

Kerevi is and always will be a 12. Since we were in school, club rugby, super rugby and should be at internatinal level. I still think we need Beale in the side somewhere.

Kerevi is a 12, not a 13 or an 11 or a 10 or anywhere else across the park - he is an out and out 12.

That Wiki entry is continually amended by at least two people. One person changes it to 115, then someone or someones else change it back to 103 - 108. It is easy to see who is doing it! Pocock is not 115kgs. Pocock has definitely slimmed down this year. But if he is 103, I can't see Hooper being 101 kgs!

Pocock has grown his game this year, his running and passing is far, far better than it was, he is a genuine secondary lineoutv target and and he has adapted to the new laws. He is not the one trick wonder he used to be.

I thought he did ok in the first and third tests, pretty poor in the second though.

I emailed the Brumbies to ask that very question a couple of years back and they said that he fluctuates between 107kg and 115kg.

He tidied the ball up and delivered our best exit (to near halfway). He also made a break at the end that put us in a position to score the winning try. I would be asking why our 10 and 12 didn't get our three strike weapons in Folau, Kerevi and Koroibete in space more often.
