Promising Socceroos youngster Daniel Arzani has completed his A-League departure, signing with English powerhouses Manchester City in a massive boon for the upcoming star.

In a Melbourne City press release, congratulating their former player on his move, Arzani said the opportunity was to train and play in Europe was a “dream come true”.

“Melbourne City has a unique position in Australia with a clear pathway for young, ambitious players to first challenge themselves against Australia’s best, and then progress to Europe to play against the world’s best.

“Watching players like Aaron Mooy play at City before moving to the Premier League has been a great inspiration and, with the world-class coaching and facilities we have in Melbourne, it’s always felt attainable,” he said.

Warren Joyce, Melbourne City’s head coach, was bullish on Arzani’s chances of making it into the first team line-up.

“Daniel has worked hard over the past couple of years and took his chance when it came,” he said.

“We’ve got a talented group of young players at Melbourne City and Daniel’s move provides even more drive for them to further their development in the senior squad.”

A big loss for the A-League and Australian domestic football not to have him here. This is the classic case of what happens to our best young players. He's a rare talent and I'm sure he'll succeed at Celtic if he goes there on loan from Man City, as expected. Not in the same mould as Mooy but will give the Celtic fans some value for their money, if he gets the game time.

Good news. What’s the likely next step? Will he get loaned to championship level club?

We’re going to see more of this kid. I was lucky to see him last season at AAMI terrorising the opposition. Good luck Daniel.
