The NRL has today handed down their final determination into the now infamous Bulldogs Mad Monday scandal, electing to suspend half of the $250,000 fine imposed.
The club was bracing for a fine of $250,000 for the fallout of their now infamous Mad Monday celebrations, with several players pictured drunk, naked or passed out on the street following a day of drinking at a public bar in The Rocks.
But, after considering the club’s submission, the NRL decided to suspend half of the sum after noting the club had acknowledged and apologised for the seriousness of the breach, and had “committed to put measures in place to ensure there is no repeat of the behaviour”.
“Under those circumstances, the NRL will suspend half the original fine,” an NRL spokesman said.
“However the suspended part of the fine will be reimposed if there is any material breach of the Code of Conduct during the next two years.
“This incident should act as a reminder to all clubs and club officials that it is imperative to take extra precautions when organising club-sanctioned events,” they added.
Individual fines issued to players embroiled in the scandal were already part-suspended, and The Roar understands there will be no change to those penalties.

Wait, wait wait.... When this "incident" happened Greenberg was filthy because it was taking away the focus from the start of the Finals series and launch of the NRLW..... ...Soooo they bring it back up in Grand Final week.... Seriously?

No ones saying it’s a great look but that doesn’t make it an atrocity.

The fine should be for stupidity. They have a massive leagues club. Lock them into one of the function rooms and they can do what they want. If they don't know after all this time that photographers are sweating on a picture of anything to do with drunkedness they aren't very intelligent. That the coach was there and didn't tell them to put their clothes back on was another mistake. Get naked in the showers after the game...not the pub.

OK - Incident - the tele would call it an atrocity but nicely deflected away from the actual story of it being buried

Atrocity...grow up. I guess we know who reads the Telegraph...

What atrocity? The daily telegraph using a cherry picker to spy on a private function and then feign disgust just to sell a few papers? Do you mean that atrocity?

And buried on the day that the Slater news will dominate RL headlines.

What a surprise though predicted by astute observers of NRL atrocities before.
