The deadline for Israel Folau to appeal his contract termination for a code of conduct breach with Rugby Australia’s panel has elapsed, with the former Waratah and Wallaby declining to appeal his sanction.
While this means Folau’s appeal options within Rugby Australia’s disciplinary system have been exhausted, the 30-year-old will almost certainly appeal the decision through the Australian legal system.
A short time ago, he was quoted by Fox Sports journalist Dan Ginnane as saying; “My decision not to commence Rugby Australia’s appeal process is in no way an acceptance of the judicial panel’s findings.
“I simply do not have confidence in Rugby Australia’s ability to treat me fairly or lawfully throughout this process.”
The full statement from Rugby Australia on the matter is as follows;
“The 72-hour window for Israel Folau to appeal his high-level Code of Conduct breach and sanction has expired.
As Folau has not notified the panel of his intention to appeal, the Code of Conduct process has now formally concluded.
With the Code of Conduct matter complete, Folau’s employment contract will be terminated.”
Upon news of his contract termination breaking on Friday, Folau said in a statement that he would “consider his options”.
But RA’s statement today reveals he didn’t notify the governing body of an intention to appeal their decision before the deadline.
While a legal challenge is still possible, Folau has removed any mention of rugby in his social media profiles. After a similar controversy last year, the fullback said he would walk away from the game if the demands of keeping a professional profile clashed with his beliefs.

Your "Stop this narrative" = My 'restrict free speech' . That simple.

No, no KP, on the contrary, your comments are very welcome, and I'm still waiting for them. I'm dying to know how you contrived to make my post you reference as one against free speech. I'll play the whole thing for you again: I think it’s time to stop this narrative that Folau is fighting the good fight for anyone but himself. It’s his religion in the sense that it is a personal thing to everyone and people practice it very differently. He chose this fight and it was willful. If he chooses to fight on, it will be for his own gratification. In this respect I can only see him as a selfish man. It’s the contradiction of religion. There's clearly nothing in that which denies anyone's right to free speech. It's simply a comment on the nature of it. Why not pull on your big boy pants and simply fess up. You got it wrong.

Not quite. You shook with your right, locked hands, then drew your hidden blade with your left, and stabbed/killed. Hence left (not right) hand was sinister. KP

Morning Neil, I had taken some time with the initial reply, and have no idea why the moderators thought appropriate to moderate it. Hence the laziness in getting round to repeat. Not my back-to-back shifts midweek..... Your contribution at 5:29 pm on 20th May reads: it’s time to stop this narrative My earlier comment, had taken into account that your comment above was potentially, not quite what you intended. Hence I spent some time trying to explain how you might have easily avoided my unwelcome 'rebuke', without my communication at the same time being one of a patronising tosser. Perhaps in their haste, it was easier for moderators to delete my comment, than read it. If that does not satisfy you, perhaps request them to send you it. Given your whinging, about my compliance with your demands, I hope you will understand, my not bothering, to repeat my (it seems unwelcome) thoughts. Cheers KP

Tell you what. Shall we just agree your comment was as lazy as it was baseless, and to make it worse, you cooked up a embarrassing alibi about moderation rather than come clean?

The original term for left was sinister...... Dumb superstitions.

If a Muslim, or anyone for that matter, was spouting hatred from a position that influences my children, I would have no problem censuring them. I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try to have a civilized conversation to convince them not to do it anymore. Muslims are still people and with a few exceptions are reasonable.

Doesn't matter if Muslims are playing at international level. It's the principle that's the issue. I still think you'd go 'kid glove' on a Muslim, not as gung-ho as you have against Folau ---- As far as women go a woman, who dresses provocatively, offends many women who dress more maturely. That's befire any man's opinion is garnered.

Any of them playing Sport for Australia and doing it in a public forum? Women should cover up as much as the Law requires, more if they personally choose to.

Yeah well, funny world isn't it? The much maligned white male is responsible for many of the fine things you enjoy in the world today. Over-represented in many of the positive societal and technological advances that make the world what it is today. Why the hate? Bit of "white guilt"perhaps? If you think logically about it you might get over it....

I was referring to the fact that there are Muslims who say very similar things. ---- As far as covering up goes, women should be modest at the same level men should be circumspect. Two and tangoes, etc. --- In other news, advertising works by highlighting the benefits of whatever it is that they are promoting

In my experience, the majority of Australian (and kiwi) Muslims have integrated into the community and recognize that this sort of garbage either isn't necessary, isn't tolerated or isn't appropriate to voice publicly. The "Scantily dressed Women are like meat - they attracts stray cats" comment got one Imam in a lot of trouble. I found it funny, because at its core the message was lost in translation: women should cover up because men are uncontrollable feral animals and don't need the temptation. A scathing, but fairly accurate indictment of how men really are. Advocating for women to cover up is the bit that he should be under the spotlight for. I don't think he said they should go to hell for it tough.

I bet ya wouldn't say that about this if he was a Muslim.

The legal standard says "Incite or Advocate for". So yes, he has advocated for violence, albeit in an imaginary made-up world. You can discriminate against multiple groups at once. He who must not be named did a fine job of that during WWII. Today, we ask the question "Why did nobody stop him". RA have the Moral High Ground on this one, his faith is based on an abhorrent ideology and by law, can't be used as a "free pass".

Especially my maternal grandmother!!!!!! "Watch out for those girls they'll be out to catch you. If you are going to mess around make sure you use a contraceptive sheath." I cannot recall if Ma said this on way to Pa and Ma taking us to Mass at St Pat's Church Hill or on way home (Anglican whose one subjection to male sex was conversion to Catholicism for marriage to my Qld g'father. Cheers to weekend wraps KP Ps neil if reading this will get back to you as soon as my self imposed comment quota restored!

Ps - suggest you try a course in empathetic reading - yes I could have put better by substituting word " harassment " with " 'harassment' " for you.
