Reports: Cameron Bancroft axed for third Ashes Test

By The Roar / Editor

News Corp’s The Daily Telegraph is today reporting that embattled Australian opener Cameron Bancroft has been dropped from the XI ahead of the third Ashes Test at Headingley tonight.

The West Australian has made paltry scores of just 8, 7, 13 and 16 in his four digs atop the order, and will make way for Marcus Harris for the pivotal clash in Leeds.

The Daily Telegraph’s Ben Horne is also reporting that Marnus Labuschagne has officially been handed Steve Smith’s spot after the former skipper was ruled out with concussion earlier, while the Aussies will look to give England a taste of their own Jofra Archer medicine in bringing James Pattinson back in at Peter Siddle’s expense.

@Jeff, Warner has 21 test hundreds. It seems you just don't value that at all.Don't Put him in the same line with spuds like Khawaja and Paine.

Where is there any indication of being "hurt"? What a strange comment.

I have no problem with shuffling the side...but that's all it is...shuffling. The soap opera language: "axed" is the outrageous bit.

Bancroft had loads of opportunities before his 9 months suspension to establish himself in the side! Lets be honest, his only decent score was in a 2nd innings minimal run chase, which Warner helped him out with rotating the strike. I have no idea why Warner is struggling with the red ball, unlike Smith after their suspensions. Pattinson should never have been "rested" for the 2nd test in the first place. I don't understand why Siddle is being picked, he doesn't offer much with the red ball anymore.

I'll have the same amount of faith. More faith would require me to be dig deep down into...well, faith I guess.

Well yes. Bancroft had form in England and Burns didn't. Telling how hard it can be stepping up to Test level.

Hey. One run leads to two. Two to three. And so on. Can't predict beyond the 7th though.

What about all the runs that’ll be given away with Pattinson and Starc’s bowling?

Starc is perfect for England, Hits the stumps and takes the umpiring and catching out of the equation! :silly:

I hope Harris goes well. He gets starts and gets out. But I have more faith in him than Bancroft
