The Crows must put their infamous camp behind them

By Fletch / Roar Rookie

The Adelaide Crows have had a season to forget so far in 2020.

In Matthew Nicks’ first season as the Adelaide Football Club senior coach, the Crows have struggled and currently sit 18th on the AFL ladder with a win-loss record of 0-5.

The team has struggled in all areas of their game plan in 2020. One thing that we know is that Adelaide cannot use being in the hub as an excuse.

Currently the Crows have the following players on their injury list: Rory Sloane (ankle, test), Darcy Fogarty (shoulder, test), Will Hamill (concussion, test), Patrick Wilson (shoulder, test), Rory Atkins (shoulder, three-five weeks), Wayne Milera (foot, six-seven weeks) and Jordan Gallucci (Achilles, season).

This also cannot be used as an excuse for the Adelaide Crows.

They have one of the healthiest lists in the AFL.

You simply aren’t playing players like Bryce Gibbs in your team when your team’s best 22 isn’t performing, Matthew Nicks.

Bryce Gibbs could be the spark for the Adelaide Crows’ line-up that they have been missing.

However, one player will not fix Adelaide’s 2020 struggles. It is up to them to play as a team and make sure that their game plan is a style and brand of footy that will help the Crows to improve their 2020 season to date.

There is another thing that must simply stop being discussed and floated around by the AFL media and that is their eventful training camp, which occurred in 2018.

The culture at the club may have been a problem but the media continuing to circulate new details about what occurred on that Adelaide Football Club training camp in 2018 is simply outrageous.

Mark Ricciuto, you need to simply think before you speak, because as a great of the Adelaide Football Club, for the love of your club, can you please act in an appropriate manner?

Currently, you’re acting ridiculously.

The Adelaide Football Club need to regroup and find a spark that will hopefully reignite Adelaide as an exciting footy club to watch as they simply have a problem at the club that must be fixed immediately.

For one thing, we know season 2020 has been a season to forget for the Adelaide Football Club members and supporters and the AFL community in general.

So Adelaide, you need to stand up and be the pride of South Australia.

I know Atkins and Seedsman are regarded as outside players and in essence,'linkmen', but too often I see them at contests baulking. This is a very disruptive and essentially a bad look and the courage and conviction (or lack of) must surely be a concern for coaching staff and teammates alike. Too often they are beaten at a contest and do not chase and pressure at a level expected from experienced players.

Perhaps the AFL already has conducted a review of the camp and concluded that there is nothing to see. It is the media that refuses to move on and runs an article or comments on it every couple of weeks!

If the Crows are struggling to put their infamous 2018 camp behind them, then they might well need some external help. Perhaps the AFL needs to enquire about what happened at the camp.

And all of them played against Port at the same time it seems? PS: No COVID where I live!

You know, it's where all the Rioli's, Motlops and Mcleods are from and the best of them all, Tom Logan. Surely you're not so trapped in your Covid bubble that you don't know some of the greatest players of all time?

NTFL? Where is that again? Nonetheless, I am sure Port can claim a Premiership there!

I have absolutely zero knowledge of any club in Australia outside the big league and the NTFL (The league I played in), but I'll tell you a story about a "lesser league" Every year or two the Bombers would come up to Darwin and get a hiding from the NTFL team, Port Magpies would also come up to play every year or so, massive events in Darwin, crowds over 4000, huge, for both clubs, this was when Port was winning premierships for fun. Port whooped the NTFL team every time I saw them play, so not to sure about the difference in the two leagues being as vast as some might suggest. It's also why I support the mighty Power.

Nice: Just reading what you actually wrote ie: "most successful club in Australia" and wondering if you mean most successful club in the best comp in the land (ie: in Australia) or if you mean the most successful club in lesser competitions in Australia like the SANFL or WA's South West Football League etc. It seems that Port are neither!

Nice. Mighty Bunbury eh? Which hub are they playing in again?

Do you mean most successful club in Australia apart from South Bunbury? Next you’ll be telling me that Port are the oldest club in SA! Maybe they have been wearing the prison bars the longest? Just because you say it over and over doesn’t make it the truth! PS: I’m good but not sure I qualify as “great” … yet.

And that's right because the great Pedro says?....gee that's enough for me. Still the most successful club in Australia any way you look at it.

"our" That is an expensive mentor that would have been a lot cheaper employed as a forwards coach!

And Port has won one AFL Flag and a bunch of SANFL Flags (which don't count)!

Ha Ha, don’t get me started. I’m assuming VFL flags are still counted though? AFLW flags count, just not for the men’s team.
