Roosters lose Charlotte Caslick for rest of NRLW

By Ed Jackson / Wire

Sydney Roosters star recruit Charlotte Caslick has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2020 NRLW season with back fractures.

The Australia rugby sevens star has played both games for the Roosters so far this season, with the Tri-Colours having already booked a grand-final berth against Brisbane despite still having one more round-robin fixture to play.

In a short statement released on Wednesday the Roosters announced the 25-year-old had sustained two small fractures in her lumbar spine.

The Olympic gold medallist will miss Saturday’s game with the Broncos and the grand final the following week, and it is unclear how the injury will affect her rugby union commitments.

Caslick will remain with the Roosters squad in a support role until the end of the 2020 season, the club said.

That is a real shame. The exciting way she plays, she has the potential to be a Benji Marshall-esq influence on young women and connecting them with the game. Hope she makes a speedy and full recovery.

Bobby, well done your click bait comment got me, pretty sure she earns more money playing 7s full time than a month of League, so it isn't about the money. So I guess from your perspective the other 13-14 players in the NRLW who play rugby (7s & 15s) aren't welcome back including the Wallaroos captain. A bit of an unrealistic and old fashion view but you are welcome to it.

Come off it Bobby. Her ‘industry’ aka rugby 7s has been shut down. That’s how she earns her livelihood. So you want her to just collect the dole til it’s safe for the HSBC circuit to resume? I will say was a pretty dusty knees in the back she copped. And I reckon two games of league she copped more tackles round the shoulders and head than the last five years of union. NRL/NRWL head safety is a joke.

Sorry for the injury but has no allegiance to Union., it's Just all about the money. She shouldn't be welcomed in our game.

Well even though I was keen to see the women give League a go, getting injured was my greatest fear. On the League side it will be pretty difficult for the Roosters to win the grand final now, Caslick was a standout for them.
