VOTE: Pick your NSW Blues team for Origin 1

By The Roar / Editor

With the series set to begin next week, State of Origin teams are due to be announced soon. Before that happens, however, we want to hear from you as to who Brad Fittler should pick in the side for Game 1.

After recovering from a 1-0 deficit to claim last year’s series 2-1, the Blues come into the 2020 series as hot favourites due to mass inexperience and unavailability in the Maroons camp.

However, there will be at least seven changes to the side that won Game 3 last year. James Maloney no longer plays in the NRL, Tom Trbojevic is out injured, while Blake Ferguson, Mitchell Pearce, David Klemmer, Paul Vaughan and Wade Graham were not selected for this year’s squad.

James Tedesco is also under an injury cloud, but Fittler is confident the Roosters superstar will be right to go.

Unlike previous years, both sides have named a 27-man squad in advance of the entire series, so there’ll be no write-ins this time – we’re making you stick to the squad.

With all that out of the way, pop your preferred NSW Origin team in form at the bottom of the article, and make sure you let the other Roarers know who you’ve selected in the comment section below.

Get your votes in by Friday, and we’ll have the results up this weekend.

Yep, I made a similar comment the other day. Makes it strange that Wade Graham was overlooked. My guess is that Freddy feels Murray can switch to an edge to cover for injury, but gee he is so good up the middle of the park.

I doubt N Brown will start on an edge, he is a genuine middle player. Its all about structure these days.

Seems to have a lot of 13s (brown, finucane, jurbo, murray, yeo) but only 3 genuine edge forwards who play (and defend) there every week. Frizell out of form and Cordner one headknock away from missing the rest of the series. Could be a bit of a weak spot.

Wonder what the interest and TV ratings will be like in this crazy season. Millions no doubt will be tuning into Channel 9 just to hear words of wisdom from Gus!

I went with: 1. Tedesco (if needed Paps) 2. Addo- Carr 3. Crichton 4. Wighton 5. Tupou 6. Keary 7. Cleary 8. RCG 9. Cook 10. Junior Paulo 11. Cordner 12. Nathan Brown 13. Jurbo 14. Haas 15. Finucane 16. Cam Murray 17. Gutherson Paps is straight swap for Teddy RCG, Paulo and Brown for grunt first up Followed with Haas and defenders Finucane / Murray (yeah he does both) later Gutho means any back line position covered Unlucky are Yeo, Paps, Frizell and Lomax. Everyone better perform cause any way you go good (and deserving) footballers are missing out.
