Roar…. integrity? You been on the crack? ????

The Roar's NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 6 - battle for Brisbane, Roosters written off, will Demetriou survive?

Shane Richardson is the Tigers best buy for at least 20 years.

NRL News: DCE back 'trick plays' to take down Panthers, 'No ceiling' as Tigers announce bold vision

I was gobsmacked when they first disallowed the try however:
I do believe he could have ‘got there’.
I do believe JWH tried to impede Dylan.
I do believe Dylan milked the impact.
I do believe he should not have to dodge an attacking player.
I doubt he would have made the difference in scoring.
In hindsight I do believe the correct decision was made….

Obstruction turning a 'simple' game into complicated mess of decoys and defenders milking penalties

Fox Sports mocked it up and it shows he definitely could have got there at 21kms per. And he could have gone faster.

She is a good side where you cannot even make argument for the inclusion of:

DCE, Cliffy, Kimmorley and Baa Lamb

The NRL's 300-game club is hard to get into, but those who have made it definitely deserve the accolades

I just read through all these comments and there were only a few that seem to get the point.

Accident does not mean you are not guilty. END OF STORY.

Game’s gone soft, huh? League's tough enough without dangerous incidents getting feather touch from judiciary

I am Manly but the Urbo’s are way way behind the Walters (way in front) and the Burgess boys. They may get there but no where near yet.

Turbo-charging their way to the top: Are the Trbojevic brothers the greatest ever set of rugby league siblings?

For mine the fairest method is as follows. Select 5 people who watch every game that counts toward the prize. Every game. And for each game AND each team they give out of 10 rating for every player. So every player receives points every week.

A standard game by any player gets them 5 points. That’s your base. Position and expectation must be taken into account ie a winger metres gained should be say 150 per match. If he simply runs 170 with no tackle busts and missed 1 tackle and spilled the ball once etc – he basically did his job and gets 5 points. Obviously also subject to the result of that play or mistake. But even if not the best player on the field he takes 28 hit ups and makes 270 metres he might get a seven or eight. 10’s are rare. The game is taken into account, that same winger if he was kicked too 25 times and only had 3 runs not from a kick – he may still only get his 5 points.

Another example – currently winger scores 4 tries gets MOM. Based on this scenario, scores same 4 tries but hardly added anything substantive to the rest of the game, he did his job. Maybe gets one extra point only.

The added beauty of this is you will have your best player throughout the season (yes more games more points) by position!

Yes its still subjective (it must be!!) but its the same 5 judges every game. To remove further issue you could go one step further and remove the top and bottom score for every player – 5 vote but 3 count.

Why 1-10 instead of say 1-17? Great games would not be rewarded enough. If you genuinely were MoM and get awarded 9 – that’s 4 points over a standard game where as awarding 1-17 you would only get 1 point more than the 2nd best on field.

Obviously this is just the basic format but it would work better than any I have geard to date.

The NBA solution which would fix broken Dally M voting system to avoid more Hammer blows

I use to play with a fellow who was the worst sledger ever, never shut up even it we getting flogged. It was embarrassing in two ways – it never stopped and 2 he was incredibly bad at it. Cody Walker appears to be similar to my ex team mate. Go hard all time and then get dirty when someone returns serve with interest.

I am not a sledger and never was and never understood it on footy field. Cricket and Golf probably exceptions as it requires much more mental strength.

It's time for the NRL to put a line in the sand to deal with players' on-field sledging

Hardball, Tackle Ball or Bloodsport!

Rugby league needs a new name but what can you call it to stand out in football’s confusingly crowded landscape of codes?

Are we not missing the greatest aspects of all this??

1. Footy is back for real
2. First games of the season and would be no surprise who wins each game
3. and of course 2024 the Year of the Sea Eagle

The Roar's NRL expert tips and predictions, Round 1: Can Storm continue hot streak, will Dragons fire, more upsets to come?

Diplomatic…. first time use of this word on this website 😂

Is Robbo all he's cracked up to be? The musings of a diehard Chooks fan

My take on your article is that the club made a 3 year decision based on the circumstances of the time: good but not great footballer, became available, had the cash and needed to spend it, could not get any larger profile or genuine marquee players and made the decision to (I believe) slightly over pay (I would not go past $400k for a player who if managed correctly can provide some aggression and ompth. Plus, he has never seen out a full contract! Give him a proper kick in the behind in a year or two and he will leave anyway.

So its like insurance ads say – past performance is no guarantee of future earnings. But right now, today, its an astute purchase.

Believe it or not, Luciano Leilua is a marquee player - just a wildly overpaid one cashing in on Dragons' desperation

Tooves, Dessie!

Fearless 2024 NRL predictions: Blues' revenge, Storm star wins Dally M, Knights miss finals despite Ponga

As predictions go, I cannot see Warriors and Knights backing it up. Both miss the 8. Manly either with or without Tom definitely make the 8 and with Tom will be in the GF.

Poor old Tigers will be better but still last.

He was very good. The poor fellow is always on gf lists, except winners.

All guts, no glory but a belated honour: Rugby league’s unofficial champions

Maybe Tony can do another of his lists with players who left a club and then the club won the premiership! At least Hindmarsh won’t make that list…

Still doesn’t explain how over 100 tippers got 8 correct with ZERO points differential on Footy Tips. They cannot all have no idea!!

NRL tipping is a lottery: No one has any idea, so stop pretending you do

If he was “show me the money” he would be gone already. Wallabies offered plenty but he stayed a Rooster (for now) for less money.

Wallabies still in with a chance for Suaali'i long term as Roosters star makes crucial call on contract

What I thought was great especially for the first round was halves running and taking on defence – Tom Dearden and Adam Douehi were the best but add Tanah Boyd, Foran, DCE, Ilias and Brayden Trindall. All of them made a difference through running for their team. More of it I say!!

Hagan’s Round 1 Talking Points: Concussion checks, Dolphins dazzling, Ponga at pivot, Penrith’s GF hangover

The big wide armspread at or near dummy half…. Munster, Ado Carr seem to plead at every play the ball.

Hagan’s Round 1 Talking Points: Concussion checks, Dolphins dazzling, Ponga at pivot, Penrith’s GF hangover

Despite my objection to the manner of the sacking of Des etc, my personal stand of not renewing my membership, which did not hurt them as they have record (Manly) membership this year… go the Seibold Eagles, lets start well against the Doggies, win more than we lose in the style the trials were played (that was good to watch footy), make the eight and surprise all in the GF!!!

NRL Round 1 Talking Points - early edition: Who’s confident? Who’s fearful?

I know we live in the time of social media but… the big thing missing here is not whether Kevvie can’t coach or is losing the support of the players etc….

What is missing is PLAYER leadership! Ask Laurie Daley if he would have spoken out of school when Mal was captain. 25 years on he still provides Mal the greatest respect. We could all probably name 50 other leaders of clubs that are held in the same regard.

Why Walters should walk: Support among Broncos players clearly dwindling

I am Manly boy and would have Cleary. The other change would be Wighton in the centres and Val to wing and no Campbell Graham.

Kangaroos' Best 17: Who Mal Meninga should be picking for the knockout stages

Who is??? He has had probably 10 games at FB in the last 3 years and if he played there every game would likely be considered the best FB in the game. Very strange scenario for the Roosters and very fortunate that it appears (unlike many others) he doesnt care where he plays – he just wants to play. He and Suuali are my favourite players at the moment, despite my Eagle love.

Pomination! Four from England, and just two Kangaroos feature in our team of the RLWC so far
