Collingwood Magpies and Cronulla Sharks tragic. Massive fan of F1, AFL, NRL, Cricket and just about anything where a bunch of people put on the same outfit and run around after a ball. Fair minded and open to debate, love having my opinions challenged, in a robust but fair way.

You are confused. The constitution was formed out of federation of the states. What I am referring to, and the author, is an acknowledgement of people here before settlement. Its not hard mate.

Would it affect you in any way, for the constitution to have a preamble recognising aboriginal occupation of the land before white settlement?? In any way?

You have made the authors point in regards to his article.

Australia and English cricket teams miss important symbolism of kneeling for BLM

The fact that anyone is scared of that is bizarre. Its a simple acknowledgement. Not hard, not scary. Just fair and right.

The fact that Australia’s constitution doesn’t even acknowledge the existence of people on this land prior to white settlement is a disgrace.

Wonderful analysis Cameron.

The culture side of things is interesting, and I guess only those in the club inner sanctum really know. Look at GC this year, they seem to have developed into a team that has a good culture, players look like they enjoy it there, saying all the right things, and they look a “team” all of a sudden. So things can turn around for GWS as well methinks. Hope so, as its a costly exercise for the AFL if they don’t succeed long term.

GWS are broken in every way

Yep thats all fair enough. I did read your initial comment missing the “saturday” so thats my bad.

Understand the problem with teaching (first hand) in either teaching the party line, or being an individual. And I guess it always comes down to which party it is in charge at the time. If its your mob in charge, and you are teaching thus, then its fine, if not you are a rebel. Its a tricky situation.

nope….

No. You get to call Ablett God, so we get to name our lads. Simples.

I call him SOMM (Son Of Macedonian Marvel), but people think I’m speaking of WWI battles and it loses its effect……

Here we go. The Warnie fans are up and about…..

“Highly paid athlete” means you are paid to deliver at your best, all the time. Comparing them to “just like everyone else” is rather naive. What if we saw Pat Cummins out in Caxton St, grabbing a kebab at 2 in the morning, 2 days before the first Ashes Test? Why can’t he, “just like everyone else??? Come on. Has nothing to do with being a character, and everything to do with being a professional.

Nothing to do with passing judgement either. But is it unreasonable to expect out top line sportspeople to be at their best?

I’m guessing you are a smoker Marty, and good luck to you, no judgement here. To claim Warne as the greatest bowler of all time is very debatable. The stats show that isn’t the case, and personally I feel McGrath was more instrumental in Aussie wins than Warne was.

Daicos has gone to another level. Been to a few Pies games at the Gabba this year, and the Collingwood faithful lift when he gets the ball. Might be a bit of nostalgia, but there seems to be a real belief in this kid. Looks a star.

Very harsh on Kmart models.

I assume the “Gardot v Vergara” dispute is the modern version of Dickinson v Fawcett????

I doubt Popeye ever went for that “organic” tag. Straight outta the tin, laced with salt and preservatives…..

427?? The number just becomes more and more insane.

The guy is a freak, probably doesn’t deserve the vitriol that comes his way.

Thats the perfect way of looking at it Harry. Win the elimination final (which this year looks soft) and you are in the same boat at the losers from the top 4. Then its game on. I give the Raiders a punchers chance assuming they don’t slip up in W1 of the finals.

Yep all fair points.

Fremantle without Taberner might be a lesser team, but would this team be better or worse with Fyfe or Tabs at CHF?? But it relies on me trying to shoe-horn Fyfe into a position he doesn’t line up in (although could argue he plays that role from time to time).

Especially after I shoe-horned Boak into the midfield (BTW I moved Merritt out onto the wing in my example, I didn’t mention that). Although can we just remove Essendon players and play one-short…???

Can see why Andrews over Neale. If he wins the Brownlow might be some questions as to why you left him out… 😊 😊

Media training has a lot to answer for in sporting clubs.

Cricket desperately needs its characters

Still one of the great nicknames.

Cricket desperately needs its characters

I don’t know Rellum. Had a similar chat back at the start of last summer with some lads at the Gabba (Aussies smashing Pakistan so plenty of time for reflection). The consensus was that we miss the characters.

I take your point of the media tearing them down when they say something outlandish. That needs to stop. But we the public, want our cricketers to show a bit.

Cricket desperately needs its characters

I did enjoy the JL piece on The Test where he was very direct, banter is OK, abuse isn’t. I often wonder why that wasn’t stated more often in the past.

Cricket desperately needs its characters

In fairness, they are highly paid athletes. Not sure they should be on the darts after a days play. And at risk of being called “holier than thou”, they are role models to the kids out there, they can be characters without lighting up the winny blues.

Cricket desperately needs its characters

Surely not??
