Christo, been quite a lot of victim blaming on this post. Its a common theme whenever a RL player is up on charges.

NRL players are adults - let's start treating them like it

Eagle drunk at 2:30pm. Dear oh dear….

NRL players are adults - let's start treating them like it

When will the poor downtrodden men get a fair break in this female-dominated world. Give me a spell.

The comments on this article are mindboggling, but I guess not entirely surprising.

NRL players are adults - let's start treating them like it

Yes when the roles are reversed it is the crime of the century. That’s not PC madness, that’s just bl00dy well obvious. Surely that doesn’t need to be spelled out.

NRL players are adults - let's start treating them like it

Yes, the old “its not my fault, its the bar staff’s fault” argument.

Spare me.

Buttler reverse sweeping is “out of character”?? I’ve seen quite a lot of Jos batting, and nothing is out of character for him, including the reverse sweep, the paddle, the lap, the ramp.

Cricket Australia should ban all trick shots

Reversed back over him. Well said…..

It’s time for Warner to come out from the bus under which he was thrown

Anyone who heard his “apology” will know how it played out. Both Smith and Bancroft spoke from the heart, Warner spoke from his lawyers phrasebook. His repeated “for my part” illustrates this. It was pathetic. And I still await his heartfelt apology.

It’s time for Warner to come out from the bus under which he was thrown

Surely “Warner has integrity” is the most ridiculous thing ever posted on the Roar (in a strong field too).

Sent his mates up to the press conference to confess, when we all know it was his idea. Threw his own wife under the bus to excuse his poor thuggish behaviour in the De Kock situation. Blamed Joe Root for getting a smack in the mouth in a pub. Read a lawyer prepared statement as an “apology” to the Australian public. Barked like a dog in the face of a visiting captain. Shall I go on…????

Bad news, best forgotten.

Thanks for the analysis Michael. Very happy for Nico to take out the award. A less petty man wouldn’t point out that he corrected you when you predicted Carlos Jr would beat him this year, but alas!
I would also say the TV coverage had been ordinary in this respect of late. How many times do we need to see Toto getting cuddles while Nico and Sergio are fighting it out for 6th position??? Frustrating.

Awarding F1's class B championship

I have the feeling it wont be Vettel closing in on Hamilton next year, it will be Leclerc. Will be exciting to see. Leclerc’s season reminds me a lot of Vettels 2009 season.
Of course, if the modifications to the car next year don’t make that much of a change (they are only minor), then I cant see anyone touching Lewis, seems on a different level at the moment. Makes it hard for Bottas as well, he might not see out the year given that Ocon will be loitering around the garage all year.

Why Abu Dhabi should have Hamilton's foes fearful

Yes there is, he could just not show up to work. He can just leave and go play in America. There is nothing to stop him. The contract will mean he cannot go work for another club in the NRL, but that is all.

Why do we kowtow to the NFL every time a player has a dream?

Cam Smith the golfer or Cam Smith the rugby league player?? I’d probably take either of them in front of Marnus…..

Who should not make the Test XI against India?

So the problem is the players have too much pressure, knowing a failure will get you dropped, but your solution is we pick M Marsh and if he fails, we drop him?? Cognitive dissonance…..

Who should not make the Test XI against India?

Go back a few seasons, and your first 6 sentences could be about S Marsh!!! And he is still in the team. Based on that, get used to complaining about Head for the next 8 years……

Who should not make the Test XI against India?

“There were mistakes from Vettel and to a lesser extent from the team, but the lesson we have understood is that you do not need to point the finger at someone.,” he said, while pointing his finger…. 🙂

Seems a familiar story, the last two years with Ferrari dropping points at crucial times. Compare Lewis and Seb’s lost points through being a hothead or careless, and it really paints the picture.

How will Ferrari respond to another title defeat?

Great read, thanks for that. The Price Is Right reference was gold.

Although we all know who to blame now. Your family. Everyone knows you don’t go moving from the car to the house during a partnership like that!! You stay put. 🙂

The spirit of cricket - celebrating the noble failure

Good piece Michael. I was surprised when Hartley was resigned for this full year, thought he was a stop-gap measure for the end of the previous season only. I think he has done well enough.

To me it shows the culture of the whole Red Bull setup, with both teams, there is always a favourite in the team. Vettel-Webber, Ricciardo-Verstappen, Verstappen-Sainz, Gasly-Hartley, Kyvat-Verstappen (actually Verstappen comes up a lot doesn’t he….). Cannot be great for team morale, and these things tend to start from the top down don’t they.

The demise of Brendon Hartley

Both Wehrlein and Ocon deserve a seat Simoc, but Red Bull wont be giving a free kick to a couple of Merc drivers anytime soon.
