Paul, your first couple of sentences are pretty much what I was going to say. She didn’t give the wrong advice, the fact we as a nation followed the general advice is why are numbers are so good compared to the freedom loving Americans who are really copping it. For V’landys to throw her under the bus is poor form.

Great to have NRL back, but it always had to stop

Love the idea of a draft, love it in the AFL. Draft picks become gold, as well as punishment for clubs breaking the rules, and gives clubs a chance to rebuild, rather than trying to buy talent.

The problem to overcome is the junior system. In the AFL, the AFL run junior programs, not the clubs. In rugby league, the clubs run the juniors and bring the kids along. They wont be doing this if they watch their best youngsters being drafted off to another club year on year.

We need an NRL draft now

I’m a bit with you Placepunter.

I think its great he has managed to get it going again, but like you say, he isn’t the first. And the media seem to be eating out of his palm at the moment, thinking everything he touches turns to gold.

I assure you it wont last, and even he knows that, so will be out of the game before the pendulum turns back on him.

V’landys wants NRL crowds back in July

Fanboy……

V’landys wants NRL crowds back in July

Tad optimistic thinking Broncos will make the finals….. 😛 😛

V’landys wants NRL crowds back in July

Agree with a few comments above about Jimmy Adams, was ranked #1 batsman in the world for a fair period in the ’90s. But you have outed yourself as a Hooper fan, so its understandable you want him in the side. Was always good to watch, easy on the eye.

The best West Indies Test XI of the 1990s: Part 1

Yes, I’m surprised that angle hasn’t been promoted enough. It should be up in big bright lights, “Go and get a membership, and you will be first in line for a seat when we can do it”. Like you say, will pump money into the clubs over the next month or two.

V’landys wants NRL crowds back in July

Hard to believe Steele Sidebottom is still in his 20’s. Been around forever.

Both the 1990 and 2010 premierships were October GF’s, winning this year would make for a fairly unique hatrick I would have thought.

Four burning questions for Collingwood ahead of the AFL restart

Reminds me of another: Roger Harper. Would be in the Stylish team for his fielding, and in the awkward team for his bowling….

A stylish XI versus an awkward XI

Rellum, nice call on M Crowe. A mate asked me just yesterday who my all time top 5 fav non-aussie cricketers were, and without thinking too much about it, put Crowe at #1. Class player and I always loved the handband under the helmet look.

A stylish XI versus an awkward XI

Perhaps Laxman if looking for style? Was always great to watch.

A stylish XI versus an awkward XI

He probably deserves a week, however as he is in my supercoach team, and since so is Nathan Cleary, sense should prevail, and he gets a suspended fine……

'We can't have it' - Cronk slams NRL brats after Walker video emerges

Well I’m all for it, but can certainly see the hurdles in the way.

A simple change could get rid of one of cricket's pet hates

I thought Bill Lawry was a commentator…

A simple change could get rid of one of cricket's pet hates

Don’t hate the idea. I think its probably a bit optimistic to think it would be in place by this summer, esp when boards are looking to keep revenues up as much as possible.

I’m sure there would be some sports science guys with opinions on this. Maybe bowling deliveries 7 and 8 each over places a bit more unwanted stress on bowlers bodies.

I remember Botham had the record and then Hadlee went passed him, then Kapil…..

Remembering the two Ws

Thanks Allcaps…..

Why Twitter will be your new pub when the footy kicks off

Sad finish to a legendary career. Retired as the leading wicket taker in Tests at that stage if I’m not mistaken.

Remembering the two Ws

That 1992 series in England is still imprinted on my memory. All those highlights of Waqar bowling those late inswingers to the hapless Pommy batsmen. Great times.

Also, great mention of Asif Mujtaba. I can still see him hitting S Waugh for 6 off the last ball to tie an ODI (in Hobart from memory), not so great times, but great history!!

Remembering the two Ws

Don’t forget Maxy Walkers collection of stories (“Great blokes and ripping yarns” or some such….). Might be more for fans of the Channel 9 commentary team!!! 😂

My cricketing library

Ferriday and Wilson’s “Supreme Bowling”. A great detailed read on 100 great bowling performances. I think they may have produced a similar book for batting performances, but I don’t have that one.

My cricketing library

In fairness Paul, if there are no fans, I’d prefer to skip the MCG test. Its been a poor place to host test cricket for awhile now, without the massive crowd it wouldn’t be missed.

I cant see how we cant play Tests at different locations from a biosecurity point of view, I’m sure its possible. I guess it might come down to money.

India open to Adelaide hosting Test series

I’m surprised we haven’t postponed the T20 WC to Feb/Mar 2021 already. Allows the IPL to go ahead in Oct, the Test summer can go ahead, and I’m sure Aust can restructure its ODI and T20 summer to accommodate the WC. The longer the WC is delayed, the higher the chance of fans being allowed into the games.

Hard to believe someone born and bred in Monte Carlo would be entitled!!! 😛 😛
