The AFL team of the week: One player from each team (Round 16)

This is a hypothetical exercise with a starting 18 team of players with only one player selected from every AFL team This is an entertaining experiment. Check out the team following Round 16.

Backs
Nic Newman played a good game for the Blues. His ball use was particularly impressive. He had the most metres gained of anyone on the field with 571 metres gained.

Steven May put in a great performance that kept the Demons in the game. The manner in which he played was inspirational. His display should be the template for all key defenders to follow. He made playing his role look easy.

Blake Hardwick played a decent game. He showed great endeavour; he had the third most metres gained of anyone on the ground and the most of any Hawks player with 521 metres gained.

Halfbacks
Jack Lukosius had the most metres gained of anyone on the ground with the Suns finishing the game with 782 metres gained.

Marcus Adams played his role for the team impeccably. He is a no fuss defender that doesn’t get enough credit. The Lions defender leads from the font as he is a quality key defender that just looks to his job.

Jordan Dawson had a great game for the Swans. He finished the game with two goals and was impressive whenever he got his hands on the footy.

Centres
Josh Kelly of the Giants had the most metres gained of any player on the field with 664 metres gained. He makes playing footy look easy as his composure and leadership shown through.

Ollie Wines of the Power had to be selected in this team as he was prolific and finished the game with 43 disposals.

Paul Seedsman finished the game with the second most metres gained of any player on the field with a total of 595 metres gained. He kicked two goals and finished the game with 21 disposals.

Half-forwards
Cody Weightman put in an impressive display for the Bulldogs as he finished the game with four goals, three of them coming in the first quarter when the game was on the line.

Cameron Zurhaar kept the Kangaroos competitive with four goals. He never stopped working as he continually showed great endeavour and backed it up by hitting the scoreboard.

Dom Sheed of the Eagles finished the game with 37 disposals and had the second most metres gained of any player on the field with a total of 611 metres gained.

Forwards
Tom J. Lynch was the easiest player to select; he was the only Tigers player worth of being picked in this team; it was a no brainer, as he kicked a game high five goals.

Tom Hawkins was a pivotal part of the Cats fighting back from conceding the first four goals. He finished the game with six goals.

Tim Membrey finished the game with two goals and 17 dispsosals. He played his role extremely well leading from the front.

Followers
Sean Darcy was arguably the Dockers best player in a narrow loss to the Blues. He finished the game with 40 hitouts, 20 disposals and a goal.

Darcy Parish was outstanding for the Bombers. He showed why he has a chance of winning the Brownlow Medal in season 2021. His effort was immense, despite his team putting in a fairly disappointing performance. The manner in which he approached the game never wavered.

Taylor Adams of the Magpies finished the game with 34 disposals, four clearances and six tackles. He helped the Magpies almost a win a game that they trailed by 49 points in, at one stage. It’s clear that the Magpies need Taylor Adams fit and firing based on his Round 16 display.
