Greetings all, and thanks for all of the texts and comments after Rock’N’Horse got the chocolates at any old price last week.
This week we hit up Rosehill for what, in my biased opinion, is the best race day of the year, with five Group 1s across the card including the Golden Slipper for the babies.
Hopefully the weather is good and the track races well. It looks like a ripping day with some value. Hopefully we come out on the right side.
Best bet: Race 2 – 4 Mazu (three units at $2.40)
Mazu has come into this spell gelded and he’s never raced better. He looks nicely in here, should get a good run from the inside two or three rows back and looks to have a bit on these.
Value bet: Race 9 – 13 Ballistic Lover (one unit at $17)
If Slipper day is my favourite race day of the year, the Galaxy is my favourite race. A quality sprint handicap over a short trip – sign me up!
Alas, this year looks tricky, but there’s value with Ballistic Lover, who runs very well fresh, has been set for this, and is weighted well right down with 52 kilos. Ideal spot would be running line two or three pairs back.
Sydney racing selections
Race 1 – 3 Reformist (one unit at $10)
Race 2 – 4 Mazu (three units at $2.40)
Race 3 – 11 Kaapfever (one unit at $31)
Race 4 – 2 Harmony Rose (two units at $5.50)
Race 5 – 5 Verry Elleegant (no bet – too short)
Race 6 – 3 Profondo (no bet – Anamoe best horse, lottery)
Race 7 – 8 Colette (two units at $4.60)
Race 8 – 16 She’s Extreme (one unit at $8)
Race 9 – 13 Ballistic Lover (one unit at $15)
Race 10 – 9 Emanate (one unit at $9)
Good luck all. It looks like a good card at our southern HQ as well. The All Star Mile looks like a ripper as well. Zaaki has drawn Flemington Road but he’s a beast.
Bet well and enjoy the day.

It was a really enjoyable days racing… speaking of rides - great ride by Avdulla on Fireburn… very patient, waited for the moment and went boom up the inside That was the highlight of the day for mine… I’d taken my eye off her for a sec to watch the leaders battle and nearly hit the roof when she came bursting through Disappointed Isotope didn’t fire a shot… I had a multi with Mazu into VE into Anamoe… still scratching my head there :silly: My quaddie picks for the slipper ran 1,2,3,4… so a $24 boxed bet would have netted about $8k… of course I didn’t. I had the $48 roughie in the last leg of the Melbourne quaddie, but had missed Pondus in the previous Still a profitable day but what coulda been… :stoked: I guess that’s what keeps us coming back…

Some good rides today, thought Colette was done by Bowman on Forbidden Love, that was a peach. Kah was brilliant and it all went beautifully for Zaaki didn’t it. He could have ended up on a limb but just left him chasing nicely outside the leader - he loves that scenario

VE just didn’t get through the ground as well as Monte, she’s such a gun mud-runner. I’m with you, at 1.40 I don’t even see value in adding it as a doubles anchor.

I black booked Fireburn when it won in a swamp last start. My notes said “absolute mudder. Dark horse for the slipper if it rains” I woke up last night at about 3.30am hearing rain. My wife told me I sat up in bed, deliriously said “Fireburn” and went back to sleep…

Keen on Surefire in R3 and Fireburn in the slipper with last nights deluge Mazu now 1.65… into VE gives 2.15 I like Colette in the George Ryder… Isotope is a favourite of mine but I also like In the Congo at the price I think Zaaki is a special in the All Star Mile
