Stop whinging, Katich brought it on himself

Every day I carpool to and from work with a female colleague, who despite having no interest in sport, politely allows me to listen to sports talkback. I was surprised to discover she was actually listening when, halfway through a trip home, she said: ”Will these people ever get over Des Hasler?”

All Hughie at the moment! With the heavy track I’m subbing Santa for Pierata (one unit)

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 4 April

Big day, going to miss not being out there. What’s your best AD? Another group 1 for Jay?

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 4 April

You’re a purist Steven! Enjoy the day, might be a good one to sit out, very tricky. Hopefully it falls my way. What’s your best?

Both of the imports were too strong – hard-riden way out and up off the canvas.
I’m gutted about Miss Leonidas, sooooo close

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 21 March – Slipper Day

The Dixie curse has struck again, scratchings hitting races 1,2 & 9.
Race 1 – 6 California Zimbol (1 unit)
Race 2 – 6 Yogi (.5 unit)
Race 9 – 5 Grey Shadow (now 1.5 units)

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 21 March – Slipper Day

Master of Wine might get a big race over the carnival if the wet hangs around, impressive effort! I think the Melbourne form will stack up, Regal Power is the real deal. Will find out more about the sprinters after next week with the Reid and Galaxy leading to the TJ.

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 14 March

It’s looking bleak (weather-wise at least). See ya Luvaluva, subbing in Mustajeer. Good punting peeps

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 14 March

Quick changes for scratchings in races 4 & 8: Race 4 – 11 Villami. Race 8 – 2 The Chosen One. One unit on each, will add the extra unit onto Wild Planet in Melbourne

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 7 March

The shark was amazing, I thought the dry surface wasn’t ideal and the NZ win was against plodders – he’s a star.
Probabeel was great too, throw Melody Belle in and we have some super kiwi runners across the place right now. And that’s leaving Catalyst out! Btw – what about Alligator Blood, wow

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 29 February

Another forgettable day for me Steven, thankfully did well in HK to save face! Would be surreal at the track there right now but the precautions are pretty sound I reckon.
Quality racing, bring on Autumn

Thanks mate – there’s a high volume of articles and this is pretty niche, hopefully a few winners and some more comments (cheers!) and we’ll be the header item when the Championships come around.

Racing selections for Saturday, 22 February

Will be interesting to see how the track plays next week – will they over-correct? Was a tough day, hopefully back on track tomorrow

Racing selections for Saturday, 22 February

One of those days (eek)…

Racing selections for Saturday, 22 February

Plenty of time!! No great value today with my stuff, likely Microphone into the Melbourne shorties…
Good luck

Where’s the rain? Note Manhattan Rain scratched in the last – 2) Vegadaze subbed in

Sydney racing selections for Saturday, 15 February

Bit of both maybe? Was impressive though!

Well said Steve/tra

My public apology to Nathan Lyon

Lyon certainly couldn’t have done worse than Doherty/Maxwell on day two. The concern now is that cleaning up a slogging tail will blinker the selectors thinking on the best squad

My public apology to Nathan Lyon

Agree absolutely Booners, no need to let those small details get in the way. The buck stops with CEO, and his responsibility for the current Sheens deal (I haven’t checked on that either). He has sacked Sheens on the back of this year’s performance, but placed the club in a perilous position by agreeing to a ridiculously poor termination payout. Are you suggesting Humphreys didn’t know about or shouldn’t have considered the club’s run from ’06-’09?

Sheens not to blame for chaos at the Tigers

Spot on Will, two top four finishes in 2010 and 2011. Should Wests Tigers fans accept this season’s effort on the back of the last two years? Come on. That’s exactly the same cycle that kept Sheens at the club until this point.

Not making the 8 is an unacceptable outcome for any coach. The blame needs to go back to those who jumped into resigning Sheens after 4 seasons of rubbish.

Sheens not to blame for chaos at the Tigers

Spot on, the selectors continue to think that the match is simply a shortened form of Tests or ODIs, and have missed the boat. 170 and building pressure doesn’t beat good T20 teams any more.
Completely agree with the mentality, the fact that Hughes (considered a slogger at Test level) isn’t thought of is ridiculous. Steve Smith, Mitch Marsh, even Hopes/Henriques. Seems to me that unless Warner or Watson fires, Australia doesn’t have the fire power to match teams with the slog: think Windies and Gayle, Pollard, Bravo and Smith.

Selection numbers don't add up towards World T20

Hi Andy

I did suggests that the texts were only allegations at this stage, but there’s more info since about the content, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-2190394/ECB-ready-close-door-Kevin-Pietersen.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
Banter is definitely not sackable, but the text allegations combined with his retirement threat made his position untenable in my view.

As for the SA quota system, I think the premise was noble in providing avenues for black and coloured athletes, but flawed in its rushed implementation and focus on the professional level.
In terms of ‘admittedly’, the South African Sports Minister Makhenkesi Stofile stated the falws in the system when it was cancelled in 2007. The funding was then redistributed to grassroots.

Personality vs performance: would you have dropped Pietersen?
