Celtic have equalled their record win in the SPFL era with a crushing 9-0 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice.
The result underlines the strong start that Aussie manager Ange Postecoglou’s men have enjoyed to his second season in charge, with hat-tricks from Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada, plus goals from Jota, Josip Juranovic and Carl Starfelt leading the team to victory.
They move to five wins out of five ahead of next week’s first Glasgow derby clash with Rangers at Celtic Park, followed by a visit from Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The football was scintillating at times, with the Celts going to the break 4-0 up and continuing to pile on the pain for Dundee United.
Kyogo’s hat trick included a 25-metre screamer and two close-range finishes from excellent worked moves that left the United defence clueless, while Abada’s were all typical poacher’s efforts from the Israeli, cutting in off the right wing.
Denmark international Matt O’Riley picked up three assists in a row, while Aussie midfielder Aaron Mooy also contributed late, supplying a superb chipped pass that substitute Daizen Maeda turned into Abada’s path.
The result equals Celtic’s own record scoreline since the SPFL was formed, which was a 9-0 victory over Aberdeen in 2010. It is their biggest-ever away win, and only two shy of their biggest win ever, which was an 11-0 triumph over Dundee in 1895.

Imagine how well they’ll go when they get a decent manager. One so good, we’d allow to coach the Socceroos, unhindered and empowered! ;-)
