AS IT HAPPENED: Sydney FC's nightmare start continues as Hore and Roar secure win

By Mike Meehall Wood / Editor

Football returns to Suncorp Stadium this Friday night with Brisbane Roar returning to the big house to face Sydney FC in a repeat of the Australia Cup Final from earlier this month.

That was a superb game, and we’re expecting much the same tonight, with new coach Ross Aloisi looking to impose his style on the side at the ground where Ange Postecoglou made his managerial name.

The Roar managed a creditable draw last weekend at Macarthur FC, while Sydney were humbled at home by Melbourne Victory.

Kick off is at 7.45, so join us in the comments section for the whole thing.

Sydney was just lucky to win the Australia Cup. Firstly, there was no good venue available in Brisbane or Gold Coast at that time. Secondly, Hore lost hand ball penalty accidently in the second half in that finale.

As a Sydney supporter - it may be a long season! I’m off to India for three weeks as of Thursday. When I get back - will Sydney have scored a point or a goal?

FT That's it! Embarassing stuff for Sydney FC, who remain pointless and goalless, but let's not talk about them: the Roar were exceptional and deserved every inch of their win. Hore started it early, Redmayne gifted them a second and then denied many more before Hore made it three. 3-0 it finishes at Suncorp.

Thanks Mike. Very interesting game - so encouraging for Brisbane and, well, Sydney go to Adelaide next. That could get ugly.

The win is what the city of Brisbane needs. Hopefully memorable for the returning fans. As for Sydney… Rest, recover & keep on rocking.

83' Berenguer off, Quinn MacNicol on - he's 15! That's the third youngest player ever, he was born the week Low by Flo-Rida was number one and Juno was in cinemas. Feel old? 3-0

80' Mak, SFC's best I'd say, gets a shot away but Freke is confident it's going wide and the dive is strictly for the cameras. Mileusnic is departing, Markovski on. 3-0
