Think that’s the NGA players.

No they change that for next year

It isn’t set in stone that Daicos will go pick 1. In fact, the noise about that has all happened while he’s not playing footy at all. When he was playing footy he was rated as a 2nd round pick. But hypothetically, the whole point of Collingwood getting up the draft inside his pick is not to match his bid but to pick a player before him and then match the bid when it comes. Like GWS did with Tom Green, who was predicted to go top 3 so they sold the farm to get inside his pick, which is why Adelaide have their first pick this year.

they'll have to make sure they have the full 3000 points though won't they?

Carlton offered what are currently picks 30 and 51 in this year's draft. Even SOS admitted it was a workable situation for him, so he gave that very same pick 9 to the Suns so they could get their man, Sam Flanders. Not to forget the 4th rounder the Blues added in, which enabled the Suns to have options later in the draft. Carlton let go of top 10 talent to get an ACL rehab 18yo and the smoky of the 1st round, then SOS got boned.

Gold Coast could have accepted Carlton’s offer but refused and tat was the reason he went to the PSD. Carlton were never giving up pick 9 which Martin was not worth.

What, like Carlton trading their pick 9 for Martin and 2 late firsts? Couldn’t trade such a high pick in the trade period for love or money, then flipped it straight to the Suns when there was nothing SOS liked on the board.

It’s the players choice if he wants to go to the PSD - clubs can’t make them. It’s more the players decision to tell his club to not try and stop him going to the club he wants to go to, have both clubs make an agreeable trade or you will lose me for nothing.

If Carlton colluded with another player to go to the PSD rather than negotiate a trade, the AFL would investigate and come down on the club with pain. You can't tell me SOS was boned because he had sons on the list. They fired him because he damaged the club's reputation and had a terrible trade period. Betts, Martin and Newman? SOS colluded with Jack Martin's two bit player agent, who so happens to only have one client. No club will ever deal with him again except maybe Carlton. Saad isn't going to the PSD. Both clubs need the deal done, but I'll agree they'll try to screw each other and if it isn't done quickly then one or both will miss out on other trades.

SOS offered the Suns future 2nd and future 3rd for Jack Martin. Those picks are currently 30 and 51, but they'll slide out to be worth much less. The Suns dumped his salary and moved on. Carlton was only saved from paying massive overs on a front ended deal by Covid, while Jacky never did get the payday he was chasing.

All right, I'll play. Hawks dangle their future 1st to Collingwood for Treloar and whatever else they can scare out of them. With Nick Daicos predicted to go early in the Draft, Collingwood will want to try to get a pick inside him and the Hawks don't look like they will be climbing the ladder any time soon. It's just that the Hawks would try to squeeze much more out the trade. Many ways it gets done.

Jed Anderson is very interesting for mine. He is clearly waiting to see who will be coach and whether the club brings in players to make the team competitive. Thoughts on whether he'd go back to the Hawks?

For a start, the Dogs don't have pick 12. It's been pushed out to 14 and will be pushed much further out with bid matching on F/S and NGA. Toss the Lions a future 4th and they'd take it for a ruckman in decline.

What do we think about the dogs going after Martin? I’d offer pick 12 for Martin and 18/19. Good way to build draft capital without messing with the order too much

I think you can actually get both on the cheap. But I gotta wonder is it sensible getting both of those players? Particularly after what’s going down at collingwood

Haha. Trust me I'm over it, Boo. Smith's the enemy now so will get the respect that Geelong folk deserve particularly the lead gesticulators Hawkins, Scott, Selwood and Dangerfield.

Option 5 Saad doesn’t want to be at the Bombers. Hopefully Blues hold firm Option 6 Duuudroo is gone very soon

His decisions aren’t always accurate. Collingwood has a better list in his opinion.
