One of the more anticipated QClashes in years gets underway as the Brisbane Lions tackle the Gold Coast Suns at The Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:10pm (AEST).

They’ve been skating on thin ice for three weeks now, but at least they’re still skating. The Lions won their third single-digit margin match in a row last week with a hard-fought eight-point win over Collingwood, following a two-point win over St Kilda and a one-point win over North Melbourne. A win tonight will move them back into second place.

Gold Coast’s finals hunt may be over, but they broke a six-match winless run with a 63-point demolition of the Kangaroos last week. They kept North goalless for the entire second half and could have won by even more if not for inaccuracy in front of goal in what was one of their best performances of the season.

Brisbane took care of business against their arch-rivals in both meetings last season, winning by 49 points on the Gold Coast and 91 points at home. The Suns have a poor record at The Gabba, winning just three times in 14 matches.

Much better performance tonight and considering out injury issues on the night probably makes it even more impressive. Really had that feel that the Suns would come just because of the reduced rotations. Massive hats off to Lincoln McCarthy. Clearly a resilient fella. Clearly will probably need a rest this week. Hopefully Berry can get back on the park for finals. Some more opportunities for our depth players. Expect Witherden, Ellis-Yolman and young Berry to come in for the three boys injured. I'd also get rid of Archie Smith (he's absolute rubbish) and bring in Skinner, Ballanden or Eagles as back up Ruckmen.

Hope Berry’s injury isn’t significant. Plays so well and gives 100% each game. Would be a shame for him to miss out. Silver lining is his brother Tom can come in for him, albeit inexperienced.

I see no reason why they couldn't follow their big brother and have real crack at a finals berth next year, even if it's competing for 7th-8th.

More major injuries to a contending team. Who ever keeps cleanest bill of health during the finals to key players wins the flag.

The hope was real nice while it lasted. Credit to the Lions though, they’re playing really good footy and they’ve kicked more goals than behinds (so far)
