Carlton have the perfect opportunity to prove their recent form surge is real when they take on a wounded Port Adelaide. Join The Roar for live scores from 4:35pm (AEST).
The Blues have knocked over Gold Coast, Hawthorn and Fremantle in three emphatic wins to roar back into finals contention, but the second-placed Port Adelaide, on a 13-match winning streak of their own, are another level up entirely.
However, the Power have a number of key outs: Charlie Dixon, Jason Horne-Francis, Junior Rioli and Trent McKenzie are among six changes, though the latter’s absence does allow the return of captain Tom Jonas after a lengthy period in the SANFL.

Well that's where you confuse me as currently right now hes only behind Chris Scott and lingmire with a win loss record, which I know doesn't included a gf or premiership bit you seem willing to throw it all out for an untried coach and what happens if it doesn't work, do we go into Carlton and North territory and in 2 years sack them and get another coach only.to.sack them too. I get premierships are the be all and end all to some but there's more to.it than that. Again I'll point to clubs like Carlton and North that jump at shadows and sack coaches every two years and at just how well they've done from it. The most stable clubs out there are the ones that support their coaches and bring in those around them to help. I also personally think wee are way ahead of where we are probably right now we are more a 5 to 7 team at the moment rather than top two, we still need a big defender, a fit ruckman to name the first two needs before were properly ready to contend against the likes of Collingwood, Melbourne and Brisbane.

I don't think we're ever going to agree on this to be honest. You believe Hinkley is the glue keeping the club together, and I believe he's the biggest anchor on any AFL club over the past decade. I would like to think eventually the club would determine any extension purely on results rather than vibe though.

It's a huge risk to sack a coach that has just made finals again and has actually won rhe third highest amount of games in recent times plus the players seem to love. You may be right but what if hinkley goes to gold coast and 3 or 4 players decide to join him that would rip the heart out of us. Only way it works is if hinkley makes the call and decides the clubs in a better place then when he came and its time for both to move on.

So essentially Collingwood was in a worse position (allegedly) than Port before they turned it around with a new coach, but that somehow means Port should never cut Hinkley? And Buckley made a grand final, there'd be a lot less noise about Hinkley if he'd managed that.

They didn't make finals the year they sacked him though and what about when they sacked Malthouse for bucks to take over. Didn't exactly work.

Collingwood's going pretty well since ditching their perennial under-achiever.

Can you tell me a time when a club has sacked a coach thats made finals and it's delivered a premiership in the next couple of years. Maybe it's the risk we need to take or maybe it would tear us apart.

When we're on a four-game losing streak after the Geelong game, will you still be keen to keep Ken? Josh Carr has proven he's got the tactical side of coaching down pat, why not give him a chance to be the personnel manager as well?

So when things are.going well it's all to do with Josh but everything bad that happens is ken's fault. Logic 101.

He should be. Losing by 50 to Carlton undoes all the supposed good work from the win streak. They'll fall out of the Top 4 now, because they're no chance against Collingwood, and Hinkley loves losing a Showdown.

It's Hinkley's fault because he's the common denominator in all the failure of the past 10 seasons. There's nothing to suggest it'll change to success this year either.

But i thought you credited Josh Carr with our winning streak and it was him pulling the strings from up in the coaches box. So how is it now hinkleys fault when we lose.?

2nd place on the cutting block? I don’t think so.

Yeah watched enough but I'm not Robbo so I don't rate Essendon :stoked: , your boys are good and have the ability to go far but the majority this season has been a few % off what is required for another flag this year
