Collingwood will finish Round 15 in the top eight if they can get the job done over a vastly improved GWS outfit today. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 3:20pm (AEST).
The Magpies are running hot at the moment, having headed into their bye with four consecutive wins, three over top-four hopefuls Melbourne, Fremantle and Carlton.
However, their time away has been engulfed in controversy, with Jordan De Goey’s trip to Bali causing headlines aplenty, and forcing the Magpies star to take time away from the game.
Replacing him is debutant Isaac Chugg, with the Pies to hope De Goey’s game-breaking influence and power through the middle can be replaced.
The Giants have quickly become one of the most exciting teams in the AFL since interim coach Mark McVeigh replaced Leon Cameron at the helm. Big wins over West Coast and North Melbourne have been interspersed with high-scoring losses to Brisbane and the Western Bulldogs, with today offering another major test.
Gun midfielder Tim Taranto and vital key back Phil Davis are welcome additions to the Giants’ line-up, with four changes made. The biggest absentee is ruckman Braydon Preuss, suspended and with an ankle injury out of last week’s loss to the Bulldogs, forcing former Pie Lachlan Keeffe to ruck solo against the in-form Darcy Cameron.
Prediction
Expect a high-scoring affair in what looms as a very dangerous match for the Pies’ final aspirations. GWS have not been too keen on defending and managing games lately, preferring to back their impressive attack and allowing their young talent to flourish.
Collingwood do have a solid back six that may be able to prevent those attacking waves from being converted into a significant score, and with their own free-wheeling and bold attack, should have the measure of the Giants in a crucial game for their season.
Collingwood by 26 points.

incredible improvement. Well done Cameron and well done Collingwood for seeing and helping his potential. That is what sport and a good club is about.

Cameron going well but wasn’t up against an actual Ruckman. Don’t write Grundy off just yet he will come in fresh and can be a real point if make finals.

Darcy Cameron signed today through to 2025. Great news. Played one game in Sydney in three years before joining us in 2019

He was considered top ten in the competition in 2019 Chris. Hoping he can get back to his best.

but he was pretty good before he got big contract

Agreed. Cox was handy again today considering the wet. Grundy at his best is a top player but the problem is he can only play ruck/inside mid. He’s an average contested mark and can’t lead. He has no other position.

Yeah great idea Peter. I don't watch neutral games much in any case so tipping just allows me to test my knowledge of the game if I remember to actually submit it.
