The Gold Coast Suns welcome back young sensation Matt Rowell for their trip west to take on the injury-ravaged Fremantle Dockers. Tune into the first of two Saturday AFL matches here on The Roar with live scores from 4:15pm (AEST).

Number one draft pick Rowell has had a torrid time with injuries since bursting onto the AFL scene at the beginning of 2020. He’s managed just 15 minutes of action in 2021 so far before suffering a knee injury in Round 1 against West Coast, while his 2020 season was ended by a shoulder injury even earlier than that in their Round 5 match with Geelong.

It means the Suns’ clash with the Dockers in Round 4 last year, in which he received the maximum 3 Brownlow Medal votes for the third time in his first four matches, is the most recent full match he’s played. However, it also means the Dockers know exactly what Rowell brings to the table.

Justin Longmuir will be without his own marquee man for this vital clash, with captain Nat Fyfe hurting his troublesome shoulder in their loss to the Western Bulldogs last week. Minus both his key defenders in Griffin Logue and Brennan Cox as well, plus the suspended Nathan Wilson, the Dockers’ backline looks decidedly threadbare. Given that, Alex Pearce’ return couldn’t be more timely, with the injury-plagued tall having played just half a match – in Round 1 this year – since midway through 2019.

A 4-7 record suggests the Suns have made progress this season, but the facts remain they are still yet to make a serious statement that they are a finals-capable side since Rowell burst onto the scene. With their talisman back, can Stuart Dew return back to the Gold Coast with four premiership points in the bank?

Well that’s inappropriate and in poor taste. I didn’t comment on your post as you’ve done to mine... (2 days after I posted my comment).

1troll, we can always count on you to be stalking me for days after any comment I make. You are the creepiest little leech on this site. No wonder you keep getting kicked off. But it's never your fault, is it? It's because people keep reporting you. You have a problem, but I don't think your kind of sick has a cure.

Don’t expect a response as he always hides after a loss (most weeks). It’s the experts way to not be wrong

Technically thats it you want a well established player plus a pick or overs in picks to make up for the time and development you've already put into them. Well in a perfect world anyway.lol.

Clark is nowhere near Darcy.........Darcy is going to be elite. Clark been in the system a few years & still a bit away from even being a regular. Darcy played a handful of games & already up in the best in the comp. Kicks goals too. Bolton out of contract at end of year & from WA.

He probably thinks he’s “superior” and an “expert”. He’s also the type to report this comment. If your side/club isn’t good you need to accept it. If you switch from supporting Brisbane to Supporting the Suns it may explain the type of supporter you are. Who switches teams?

Draftees on most occasions take years to impact. Darcy and Cerra have been in the system for years.

It makes it real hard when the pull of family and friends makes somebody want.to go home, you can't hold it against them really but dam. It'd be nice to know these things before you draft people. That would seem like a fair deal and hes already got a couple premierships doesn't he. Its going to be a pretty full on trade period again i think. Some big moves on the cards.

Love Bolton better than Cerra but highly unlikely he will leave the tigers and Geelong are desperate for Darcy to return. They have WA boy Jordan Clark who is more than handy and a second round pick in the draft…….if they want him make them pay !

When he calls other posters punters, what do you think that means? The plebs, the unwashed, the ignorant?

Some supporters can’t accept that their team and club is no good. They blame umpiring and injures. I think it’s called being a sore loser...

These are 2 really important parts of our rebuild. DRcy is from Geelong I think so I’m not sure what they could give. Maybe Cerra to Tigers for Jye Bolton

for your sakes you'd hope you get a player back of the same calibre or some dam good draft choices, which thats it dont usually help in the here and now but if there's any young guys in the wafl system you'd be snapping em up for sure.

2 goals 16 for King this year second to Fyfe amazing how these so called pros miss such sitters. Just watch 18 yo Treacy kick for goal. Freo needs to get this kid off the rookie list and be given a contract before his hometown clubs swoop.
