Fremantle return to finals action for the first time since 2015 in a do-or-die clash with the Western Bulldogs as finals week one concludes in Perth. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 8:10pm (AEST).
The Dockers have been one of the stories of the season after qualifying for the finals for the first time since 2015. It has seemed like a long rebuild but they finally have a list that is young, dynamic and has the ability to challenge for years to come.
They will be missing their veteran skipper Nat Fyfe with a hamstring concern, but will be welcoming back Rory Lobb and Griffin Logue from an injury layoff. Backup ruckman Lloyd Meek and utility Bailey Banfield, have been dropped from the lineup this week.
The other surprise in their considerably ‘tall’ lineup is second game rookie, Jye Amiss, who will get his first taste of finals football very early in his career.
The Bulldogs did what they needed to do last week against Hawthorn to win to put themselves in a position to qualify in 8th position. They have dropped key forward, Josh Bruce, and will be without gun midfielder, Tom Liberatore, as he recovers from a hamstring complaint. Taylor Duryea will miss for personal reasons but Luke Beveridge has named him on the emergency list..
The key match up in this game is the midfield. The Bulldogs engine room has long been one of the best in the business. The Dockers, however, have an emerging list that will challenge the likes of Marcus Bontempelli and Josh Dunkley, with their own guns in Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong.
Will Brodie has also been one of the stories of the season and is arguably the recruit of the year.
Prediction
I am picking the Dockers by a kick in a really tight one over in Perth.

So you ask a question, get a comprehenisve answer that shows (once again) you to be incorrect and you go back to the childish retort? That credibility is being frittered away.

Blah, blah, blah.

The basic facts and a generous spirit; Your post says explicitly “He stated that if you lose in the first couple of weeks in the finals, you may as well not be there in Sept.” is a statement of fact, I have to have actually stated that for that statement to be true. So we are left with it being a mistake (which I am chosing to believe with my generous spirit) or a deliberate fabrication (which would really lose you some credibility)
Mr Right
Roar Rookie
How do you know it was an actual mistake???
Macca
Roar Rookie
Well that is a well reasoned point. You will "lose all credibility on the roar" if you resort to that sort of thing rather than just admitting you made a mistake.

PS the quotation marks comment was for Bretto (which is why it was posted before your response) As for the "you ain't first you're last" quote - take a look at this and see if you think I was 100% serious https://tenor.com/view/if-you-aint-first-youre-last-heres-the-deal-big-hairy-american-winning-machine-plain-and-simple-gif-16018474

I tend to be "high maintenance" when people claim I said things I didn't. "you shouldn’t be content unless you won" is a very very different "statement" to "He stated that if you lose in the first couple of weeks in the finals, you may as well not be there in Sept".
Mr Right

You are a high maintenance character. "That is my quotation". 1/9/22 7:21am. Macca Roar Rookie September 1st 2022 @ 7:21am The reason for the difference is how close the teams are (or were perceived to be) to actually winning the premiership. It isn’t a matter of saying well 16 other clubs didn’t win it either it is saying you shouldn’t be content unless you won. Perhaps the reason for GWS finishing 16th this year was because they were too happy with finishing second? As a great man once said, if you ain’t first you’re last.
Macca

Given the great man was Ricky Bobby from Talladega nights I think you could probably have figured out that comment wasn’t entirely serious. And I note you didn’t answer my question? Everyone wants “the chance” but I am talking about “the result”.
Mr Right
Roar Rookie
You explicitly said “As a great man once said, if you ain’t first you’re last”. I am confident that not 1 of the 8 teams or their fans that made the finals would have exchanged their finals game & a chance for the flag for the Blues ninth place finish in 2022. Now if you find a Bulldogs or Tigers supporter come forward & state that they wished their never played finals I will be very surprised. Good luck Macca, but I wouldn’t be holding your breath waiting to find one.

Sydney are favourites. By far the most impressive team of the first week, they should really make the GF, as they are very hard to beat on their own patch and have beaten both Collingwood and my boys pretty comfortably over the course of the season. They also have the wood on both Melbourne and Geelong. I genuinely think they are the best side in it and they'll be incredibly hard to beat.

Excellent arguments because both teams have excellent lists with results that match. I'd love to see Sydney win in Buddy's final year of THE Contract. Ditto for Mundy, although I think Sydney are better. Geelong deserve favouritism, but if they don't win it they'll cop it. Can't say i'm a fan of Scott though. So cheer cheer ..

Did I say that explicitly? But again why would Carlton be happier to go out like the Tigers on Dogs than how they did?

But they lost the contested possession considerably, yet still won. Freo doesn't rely on a contested ball in packs. Again, check the stats for both the game and the 2022 H&A season. They hold width and try to spread, often too wide, in my opinion, instead of mixing it up through the corridor with leg speed. They did that more in the second half. You must understand how your team plays if you want to argue against my opinion. I'm happy to discuss it, but I'm starting to know why you rarely give your own opinion, preferring to criticise others since it requires little to no thought. It's why people enjoy chatting with me, including you. People talk with you simply because you make 1000s of weekly comments on their comments. I rarely see anyone speaking with you about your opinion. I believe that's because your English is lacking, limiting your ability to express yourself coherently, or you lack critical thinking. Probably a bit of both, I suspect. There is a reason so many people 'liked' my comedy skit about you the other day...because it's true.
