Hawthorn are looking to end an encouraging season on a high when they take on Fremantle at the MCG. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:45pm (AEST).
Despite sitting 16th on the ladder, the Hawks have arguably been one of 2023’s biggest surprise packets, having defeated both the current top two in Collingwood and Brisbane after being tipped for the wooden spoon pre-season.
The Dockers crunched the Hawks in their only other encounter this year, but having endured a disappointing season to fall into the top four after reaching the semi-finals 12 months ago, it would be an appropriate end to the year to lose once more to a team on the rise.

Don Freo

Didn't watch it. What did he do in the first half? The other one you mocked pre-season was Luke Jackson. Well worth the draft picks.
Chanon
Roar Rookie
Well it’s all fun & games. Still you must have raised an eyebrow to Lobb’s game. I’m sure you grinned with delight of his performance even against the next generation of cat, elite talent :stoked:
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
I'm referring to your pre-season patter. That's why I point it out throughout the season.
Chanon
Roar Rookie
I wasn’t laughing l just didn’t see the reason to compare players at different intervals. One just starting his career the other near the cliff’s edge. That’s what l was amused about nothing more.
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
Just that at the start of the season you were doubting Freo's capacity to replace Rory, suggesting we had no one competent up forward. You laughed at suggestions Amiss was better.
Chanon
Roar Rookie
Not raving Don just pointing out. But why compare with Amiss. Is it compelling to compare chalk & cheese ?
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
Yesterday, all season, better than Rory at life, better mark, better competitor, better kick, better tackler, better future...just better. To rave about Rory because he put in for half a game is a bit...generous.
Chanon
Roar Rookie
Better when ?
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
So optimistic I need to point out that Amiss was better.

Tim is very negative. Plus your a optimist don’t spoil a revolving door moment :cricket:

I was watching Peel Thunder beat Swans. Same standard game on the basis of Tim's review.

Don he was brilliant, concede :stoked:

Lobbstar had a game to remember

Ah!! If it doesn't sing, maybe it's because it's a little
horsehoarse.Doctor Rotcod
Roar Rookie
Story of a fellow arrested and imprisoned by a king. He obtains a stay of execution by claiming that he can teach a horse to sing. His friends are very dubious, but as he says "maybe the horse will sing" Highly unlikely...

I really hope it is - I had us top 4, maybe overly optimistic but I’d hoped we would kick on after a really good season - was very wrong. Next year needs to be a big improvement.
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
That's gone over my head.

I picked us between 5th and 8th so also got it wrong. A year of consolidation for us. Some real positives but the team cohesion and the game plan didn't fly in the first half of the season. Those poor losses to St Kilda and Norths really killed us before we got rolling. Next year will be better.........
