An intriguing clash awaits, as the North Melbourne Kangaroos host the Adelaide Crows at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 2:35pm (AEST).

This is a clash with big ramifications, albeit not at the top of the ladder. Instead, today’s clash has the potential to hold consequences for the race to avoid the wooden spoon.

The Crows, who remain winless, are currently last on the ladder. They’ve come close twice in succession, with their latest result a loss by under a goal against the Bombers last weekend. They’ve been performing better since returning to South Australia, but unfortunately for Matthew Nicks’ side, they’re back in Queensland today.

North Melbourne are heading into today’s clash while enduring a long losing streak. They haven’t tasted victory since a Round 2 win over the Giants. Last weekend’s clash against Carlton, while a loss, was an improved, more lively performance than many of their games this year. The Roos head into today’s clash as warm favourites, but amidst much conjecture about a potential Adelaide upset.

North have more experience at this venue, but the sides have an equal 11 wins at Carrara. Neither has won at the ground this year, with the Crows losing the two times they played here during their stay in the Queensland hub.

Rubbish about the CEO pushing the Gibbs Trade. Why do people make this up? The media pushed the barrow for 2 years and Adelaide (Reid) eventually caved. As previously stated, Reid must go (and replace him with Rendell (back to the future)).

Ah, fair call on Fogarty - I assumed that his inclusion in the emergency list meant that he was good to go. That must have been quite a bruise. Regarding the upper echelons, the issue I see is their influence on football operations - the CEO apparently pushed the Gibbs trade for the publicity win. Basically everyone else did too, as it happens, but if Reid genuinely thought that the trade wasn't worth it he should have stuck to his plans.

Fogarty remains injured (perhaps plays this week). He was named as an emergency so as he can contact train with the Group. Reid should go - the outcome of his activities over recent years is obvious to all. His only excuse is that the club was essentially forced into the Gibbs trade by the Media and their relentless criticism for not trading a year earlier and the Media's assertions at the time that Gibbs was the difference between winning and losing the 2017 GF. Hopefully Adelaide uses its fistful of Draft Picks to keep the other clubs honest wrt their Academy and FS picks. Bid on them early to force the other clubs to use their early (and next) Draft Picks. There are still quality players available (as their always is). The hard part is determining where/who has the quality needed. Perhaps it is time to bring Rendell back from his Adelaide exile? I do not subscribe to the view that upper echelons of the club need to be sacked. They have done well to make the club profitable and to maintain that position. The onfield performance is the responsibility of the players and coaching staff.

They looked relatively (and that is an important qualifier) good against St. Kilda for reasonable portions of the match, and they were genuinely competitive with Essendon, but they really fell in a hole this week. As someone else pointed out in the talking points article, they had no ability to generate any forward pressure - I'm surprised that Strachan played instead of Fogarty, who would have been a better like-for-like substitution for Walker and might have been better in that regard, but it ultimately wouldn't have made enough of a difference to matter. Their recruitment has been pretty average, with the Gibbs trade being a particular low point in hindsight - even if he had performed well, I think that they paid over the odds for him. And this isn't a good year to have a bad year, as it were, given the uncertainty around most draft prospects and the fact that the clear number 1 pick is an academy player. Reid isn't really that good at his job by the look of it, and he should have stuck to his plans and not acquiesced to the CEO in that case. On that point, there are a couple of members of upper management who should actually face some consequences for the current situation, but who are as-yet untouched.

IMHO there has not been a lot of improvement shown at any stage this season (just different shades of average (or worse))! They are obviously the worst side in the competition and the worst side since Gold Coast's inception. They will need to be extremely active at the trade table this year (nobody is off the table) and then draft very well (which they do not seem to have done overly well of late). The future looks grim but they have all other fundamentals in place so they will emerge and compete again (just not sure when - hopefully it is not a Carlton like 5 year rebuild that takes 10 years and doesn't succeed overly well).

They did not look good at the end there – North’s three-possession square-to-square goal must be the nadir of their season so far. I don’t know how much the shorter break affected them, and the fact that the forward line was basically made up of rookies can’t have helped, but it was a disappointing showing after last week.

Hopefully that is the bottoming out game! They may get beaten by more by the good sides (most of which they are yet to play) but to get smashed like that by the Roos is the worst performance I have ever seen from the Crows. They could not possibly get worse?

Entirely possible (going winless, not the priority pick). Currently working our way through the bottom-of-the-table teams, and losing to each of them. If we don't win next match against Melbourne, I'd be entirely unsurprised if they went without a win for the rest of the season.

Yep I rated this win by north, they beat the side that was there to be beaten.

Been great to watch Daw back in action. His return has lifted North. Let’s hope they can back it up next week.
