The North Melbourne Kangaroos will hope to continue their vastly improved form against fierce rivals the Essendon Bombers, in an unusual location. Follow the action from the Gold Coast with live scores on The Roar from 12:35pm (AEST).
This match has been moved north due to the ongoing Victorian COVID-19 outbreak. It will also start earlier than the scheduled 1:10pm first bounce, to allow preparation for a later match at Metricon Stadium between Sydney and GWS.
The Roos have shown signs of a bright future this year under David Noble, nowhere more so than in their upset win over West Coast in Perth last week. Earlier this season, the Roos would have wilted at some point in the match, but showed tremendous heart to score their finest win in many a year.
They’ll be hard-pressed to repeat the dose this week, with heart and soul midfielder Ben Cunnington remaining in Melbourne for family reasons.
The Bombers can continue to stake a claim for a finals berth with a win here, though they’d need other results to go their way to finish the round in the top eight. Last week’s thumping win over Adelaide was just what the doctor ordered after three losses in four weeks.
Captain Dyson Heppell returns from injury, but improved midfielder Kyle Langford misses with a hamstring strain, while promising forward Harrison Jones’ season is in doubt with a foot injury.

Maybe I’m getting soft in old age. I’ve called it all week though. It doesn’t matter where the Pies or Blues are placed on the ladder. It’s always a 50/50 game

A good day for Blues supporters. A win against the pies & Charlie played for 3 quarters in a scratch match.

Congratulations Blues. Things were looking ominous in the second quarter. Had a strong feeling SOS was going to be a factor today - Spirit of Sergie. Pies need to continue with the youth.
He smacked them last week after win what’s he going do after loss

Honestly the only reason I wanted the Blues to not win for. Though if the pies had won by 420 gazillon we’d get the same story
