The number one pick is on the line for North Melbourne as they finish a challenging 2023 against Gold Coast in Hobart. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:45pm (AEST).
West Coast’s win last week has relegated the Kangaroos to last on the ladder, and another loss to the Suns, their 21st in succession this year, will see them not only secure a third consecutive wooden spoon, but also the Pick 1 which will almost certainly land them Harley Reid in the draft.
The Suns, too, have little to gain out of this match, with their finals hopes long gone, but will be out to impress Damien Hardwick after the triple-premiership Tigers coach was finally officially appointed as the Suns’ next senior coach.

Think you have to back in your culture and hope he stays - or at least does a Judd and spends the first half of his career at WC. If you can get through the next couple of seasons which will likely be lower down - you can still rise pretty quickly. You always sell out Optus regardless.

They still have Goldstein.. If the Eagles lose tonight and then say "come on over" what can Reid do? Bad attitude means playing for the WAFL Eagles, pay-per-game drops and everyone suffers. Commitment from him would make a great addition to the Eagles, who have three Rising Star nominations this season themselves. He can go back after three years, sure, with a first-class club heritage behind him. That'll make him ,at 21, a valuable trade commodity.

His loss - will be a Buckley-style decision for him.

No, God, No!

Yeah that probably wouldn’t surprise - but I can’t stand that attitude. There are 1000s of kids that would happily move anywhere for an opportunity and some spoilt Vic metro boys refuse to go to other clubs.

Roar Rookie
Yes but apart from Larkey have absolutely nothing else whatsoever. I’d take West Coast with a spine of Allen and Barrass over what North have. He will probably go home to a powerhouse Vic club though after 3 years.

Reid has told WC not to draft him
Shane
Roar Rookie
However, North with Reid, the Cheezel, Wardlaw, LDU, Sympkin etc. That's a pretty good midfield.
Shane
Roar Rookie
Imagine how good he would be if he was playing for a top four side?

To be fair I’d much rather go to West Coast than North. North are perennial under achievers, whilst WC are a powerhouse, they’ll sort it out quicker than North.
13th Man

Haha well all of a sudden West Coast odds on for Reid once again! What a roller coaster the Harley Reid cup is - wouldn’t it be typical if West Coast win tonight.

Reid will be gutted
