Two of the AFL’s biggest powerhouses have been relegated to the so-called ‘death slot’ on Sunday twilight, with the Richmond Tigers taking on the Collingwood Magpies in a clash of the… one-time titans. Tune into the action from the MCG here on The Roar with live scores from 4:10pm (AEST) as Round 16 begins.

How the mighty have fallen. Two-time reigning premiers the Tigers have fallen into a serious run in recent weeks, with losses to two sides outside the top eight in St Kilda and Gold Coast throwing their finals chances, let alone their premiership defence, into serious jeopardy.

Injuries are continuing to bite, too; important ruckman Toby Nankervis’ return from injury has been put on hold after he was withdrawn from the starting line-up, while triple premiership heroes Shane Edwards, Nick Vlastuin and Bachar Houli are also unavailable.

That they’re still favourites to take down the Pies despite everything that’s going wrong is a sign of how grim things are at the Holden Centre. After sending Nathan Buckley out on a high with a shock win over Melbourne, the Magpies have lost winnable games against Fremantle and St Kilda under caretaker coach Robert Harvey.

Sitting 16th on the ladder, arguably the biggest bright spot in 2021 for Pies fans has been the form of Nick Daicos in junior footy, the son-of-a-gun providing hope of a brighter future… though his stunning displays will probably force the club to use maximum draft points to ensure he is a Magpie in 2022.

bit churlish from yourself, spose if all u have is the big mouth statement & nothing to back it up ignoring any response is the safe option ... still curious as to who u follow, or do u just get your footy kicks from the misfortune of others ?

Curlish behaviour from a Richmond supporter - who would have thought! Ignoring you two is the correct response.

Well done Dave, living down to expectations with name calling. I'll ignore you and no doubt you'll soon go away, as your team reverts to it's traditional mediocre ladder position.

Couldn't agree more with Scott. He just waved a purple flag in front of Freo about the five day break and quarter times. Sometimes I think they are attention seekers or just plain bored. The fans are just having some fun. But it is pretty hard to baitt someone when they don't reply. And this week, Brisbane at the MCG. They have a terrible record. Maybe finals not in reach but it would certainly fix up Brisbane after their saints loss.

injuries don't account for the no show against the Swans and the lack of effort for whole quarters against the Cats, the Dees and and the Lions the team that choked against the Eagles was good enough the team that led by 5 goals twice yesterday was good enough no excuses. this is effort and culture. we have been there before, 2014 and 2016. didn't think we'd be back so soon.

mate i fully agree with u re some of our supporters, they give me the irates too, but we are far from the only team with blowhard flogs supporting them, just our flogs have had more to brag about lately … yeah disappointed about riewoldts comments & think the club has usually been careful not to come out with such statements but he’s looking a bit silly atm ….. re hardwick there may have been the odd presser where he maybe shouldnt have said what he did, but maybe thru my tiges tinted glasses i dont think its been constant, your fellah scott comes up with some interesting calls at times too whilst on the subject …. my response is only to these flogs constantly looking to downplay the success we have had these last few years, as if its not on the same par as other clubs premierships, been going on since ’17, been quite extraordinary how its upset so many people …

Sven, you are one of the more reasonable supporters. Have a look at Pab's history of comments. Look at R as M et. al. Did you hear Riewoldt's comment about good luck to you if you play us the rest of the season. Look at any of Hardwick's press conferences since 2018. Read your own response above. Yes people are enjoying it. Because if people are arrogant and they keep telling you how good they are, then they take a fall. And Big Four Sticks calling a victory in both the West Coat and the Collingwood game is absolutely hilarious.

so who do u follow ideals ? ..... your bitter tears are delicious btw ... 2017 crows & cats both went to water when a bit of heat was applied, 2019 the rabble won 12 straight to win the flag (some on our home ground as it was our home game !!), 2020 as always the best 2 teams met in the granny & the best team won easy in the end .... your saltiness is just a bit pathetic

what shadenfreude ? used it a whole one time ..... enjoy all u want, pretty sad how the main joy in footy for some is not their own teams performance but the travails of the tiges ...

Maybe anyone can beat anyone on the day. But Tigers have to win 5 of 6 from here. Four at the least if other teams slump. That’s not going to happen by hoping that all opponents have off days.
