The St Kilda Saints and Carlton Blues do battle at Marvel Stadium as both teams fight to keep their season alive on Friday night. Follow along with all the action with live scores on The Roar from 7:50pm (AEST).
While the desperate ‘mathematics argument’ is the only thing keeping Carlton fans going, St Kilda still have a real pulse. Sitting just two points outside of a finals spot, the Saints need a healthy win over the Blues to not only snatch the much-needed points but also improve a dismal percentage – the worst of the four teams stuck on the periphery of the top-eight.
St Kilda, who have been ravaged by injury all year, were just getting rolling as they strung together a slew of impressive wins before going down in their last two games by narrow margins. Importantly, Rowan Marshall is expected to return after he sat out for visiting a COVID-19 exposure site.
Meanwhile, the Blues squad is pretty banged up from last week’s demolition at the hands of last-placed North Melbourne. They’ll be without veteran Eddie Betts who is nursing an ankle injury he sustained in typical Eddie-fashion, attempting a high-flying hanger. Zac Williams will also be absent for Carlton, while Harry McKay – currently leading the Coleman Medal race – is an outside chance to suit up. The Blue Baggers could certainly use the injection of attacking prowess.
Originally scheduled for later in the round, this Friday night clash should serve up an intriguing start to the footy week.

just had my ph blowing up with this all coming in from a mate., surely they just pack everyone up in qld and bring em to Vic or SA like the crows and port had too. You can't have some teams playing a game and some having a bye leading into finals can you.?

Heard your game is up in the air at Metricon because of snap 3 day lockdown this could really hurt the AFL fixture to the point you don’t play this weekend & it’s shifted during the week (hypothetical) or they scrap the last week bye prior to finals as a last resort

If Eddie was there he'd be keen but not with this rabble. He'd be constantly in need of a rear view mirror.

Tend to agree Andrew. Perfect scenario for the Blues. Teague on his last year and on notice. Clarko waiting in the wings.

Clarko will have a year off and will probably end up at the Blues end of next year. Don't think he wants to go to Collingwood.

Blues looked very good last night. Their defence was much better and they laid more tackles than usual. Despite losing our only ruckman in the first quarter and having JSOS do most of the ruck contest with Kennedy doing a few they still contested well in clearances. Seeing Charlie Curnow play was absolutely fantastic and his first kick was a great goal off one step and about 55 metres from the goal.
