Fresh off a thumping 116-point win, Hawthorn are sure to face a tougher challenge against a St Kilda outfit with designs on a return to the finals in 2023. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:45pm (AEST).
The Saints sit pretty in fifth with a 7-3 record, but after a flying start to life under Ross Lyon, but have lost two of their last four to fall outside the top four. With young star Mitch Owens out with a nasty concussion, the Saints have surprisingly chosen to name fellow tall forward Tim Membrey among the emergencies rather than straight back into the team following a concussion a fortnight ago.
The Hawks head in unchanged after their massive win over West Coast, and while it appears they won’t finish last this year, they are still well and truly entrenched in the bottom three, and unlikely to challenge for a second straight win.

That’s why saints and blues are going nowhere, Voss may have the cattle but can’t coach , Ross doesn’t have the cattle remains to see if he can

Starting to resemble a good team

So did l, l was about to turn it off. I couldn't watch Kosi kicking for goal, had to walk away. Happy for him that he did, thought he played one of his better games.

Could not said it better myself at halftime. I think Dylan Moore needs to lift a bit. He had a great season in 2022. This year he has been a bit patchy. Great win for the club & it's supporters.

Hell I tipped against us, thought it'd be a bit different when we're not playing against witches hats

Chaz, many a Hawks supporter would have tipped the Saints today. The Hawks disposal was so much better than what we have seen all season.

Cats are getting beaten at home, Saints lost , Dees lost a bit of a tumble from the top teams. Give us working class teams a chance to get ahead of the pack  Go Port, Go Dogs :stoked:

Added bonus of winning a close one too. At various times I could see them putting in all that effort to fall short again but geez they didn't let up

Someone mention that to kane cornes

Last year yes This year no but big drop in form from after the Port Adelaide game. Midfield getting comprehensively beaten and forward line delivery leading to rebound turnover goals too frequently. Hawks capitalised on both and if they kicked straight would have won by 10 goals

Did the saints have a so called easier start to the year. They were flying like Carlton weren't they last year early.

A good time to assess and tinker with things if needed.

All the best for remainder of year

Interesting stat on Footy Catastrophied during the week indicating recycled coaches since 2004 have failed to win the big one other than Mick Malthouse in 2010. Seems like previous success and demonstrated experience is important but shouldn't be the deciding factor in appointing a coaching vacancy.

The Hawks keep having a decent crack! Great result! One of the most watchable teams in the league. Not missing O'Meara or Mitchell one little bit.

Absolutely, that's why last week's huge win was so important regardless of the competition. Having belief in yourself and your teammates is so important for development. You can see they are a pretty close unit, l know l can crack it pretty hard but just really passionate and have really high hopes for the boys.
